TalkBack / Re: Mega Man Legacy Collection Announced For 3DS
« on: June 11, 2015, 12:04:42 AM »
I really don't see the point to buying this collection if you still have a device that can play the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which had more games & more features. Seriously, Capcom, why isn't the Remix feature in this at least? Saving it for future DLC?

Have you played MMAC with unchangable reversed controls.  I did (I still have it) and it is terrible.  I can beat these games from 25 years of muscle memory, but when you reverse the controls it just becomes a pain in the arse.

As a 3DS owner, once again I get the shaft.  How about some VC on 3DS?  Really...all we get is old NES games?  You can't figure out how to get SNES games, or GBA games, or DS games to run on 3DS Nintendo?

Hey!  I read the first 2 paragraphs of a book!  I couldn't stand the first 2 paragraphs!  Now I can judge the WHOLE book as bad!

That's how it works.  It's the same for movies, games, books, etc.  If the beginning doesn't hook the reader/movie-goer/gamer then chances are they will put it down and move onto something else.  That's one of the first things they teach you when you learn about writing in school.

That NES XL looks hideous with the controller painted on the outside.  They should've kept it simple with the NES gray exterior and then the inside with the colored buttons and d-pad as they did for this edition.

If you're going to be grammar police, then you should at least use proper grammar, capitalization and punctuation yourself.  Were you attempting to see how many run-on sentences you could fit into one post?  :-X

Why do people who don't like a particular site feel the need to frequent said site just for the purpose of complaining?  Don't you have better things to do with your time than reading things you don't enjoy?  There are plenty of sites I don't like.  You know how I handle them?  I don't visit those sites, because I have better things to do with my time.

So a release that is exclusive to the people in one city on an entire continent.  Makes sense.

I only beat the SNES King League on Master Class so I guess I'm not very good at it the game, but I can assure you that the controls for the two games are worlds apart.

I never liked this game, because unlike SNES original, in Maximum Velocity it always felt as if the car was riding on a sheet of ice.  The SNES game has tight controls.  The only time you slipped around was in the specific areas of various tracks that had the slippery icy material on them for a segment or a corner.  Maximum Velocity feels like the entire track is built out of that material.  Imagine a Mario game where all 8 worlds are ice levels.  That's my impression of Maximum Velocity.  Bad controls = bad game.

TalkBack / Re: Physical Games vs. Digital Games: The Face-Off
« on: February 19, 2014, 02:38:29 PM »
Until Nintendo can set up its account system to protect the consumer from loss of purchases and the ability to transfer purchases from one device to another on the user end (like iTunes or PSN) I will not purchase anything more than VC games on the eShop.

In addition, they need to stop hosing the consumer and allow multi-device installation of games. I have two kids...I shouldn't have to buy the same digital copy twice if I want them to be able to share the game.  I shouldn't have to pay twice to put SMB on my Wii U and my 3DS.  If I buy a song on iTunes I can put it on all of my family's iPods for one price.  It should be the same way with eShop games.  If I buy a new iPod I just have to sync it and my data transfers.  I don't have to file police reports and call Apple customer service and go through some long transfer process which may or may not be approved.

Nintendo's download game system is broken. Until they fix it I'm sticking with physical.

No cart. No accounts. No buy.

Agreed.  I'll take the risk on a $5-$10 eShop game, but I'm not spending $30 without having any consumer protections.  Looks like Capcom doesn't get my money.

You know what irks me with Nintendo and the 3DS?

"Blocks"

WTF is a "block" Nintendo?  You include a 2GB SD card but then proceed to give me download file sizes in some made up "block" measurement that tells me absolutely nothing.

You wised up and used MB/GB on the Wii U.  About time you used a normal size format for the 3DS.

12
I agree. You would think that the stretch goal that has the potential for the biggest financial return would be the HIGHEST priority, not the LOWEST.

The rest of the world get all sorts of new Mii Plaza games.  We get a camera filter. Thanks NOA.

So less than 10% of stores get these demos for a whopping 8 hours? What a waste...why even bother?

I would just love the option to be able to obtain purple puzzle pieces in a way that doesn't make them nearly impossible to find in North America without traveling 1000 miles to Nintendo World or around the world to Japan.  NWNY is the only place where I've found purple puzzle pieces in enough quantities that allowed me to actually complete a puzzle.

I have unfinished puzzle after unfinished puzzle sitting on my 3DS with giant purple holes in the middle and minimal chance of ever completing them.  It's not really fun anymore when you know that the goal is unobtainable.

Not to mention, even with 3 3DS's in our house, we have never received one purple piece as the random first piece.  The purple piece idea was nice for Japan.  Everywhere else, not so much.

@Evan_B

Nintendo should also show some appreciation to the early adopters by putting this content on the eShop.  If it wasn't for the early adopters the Wii U would be a total disaster.  Ignoring them with the hopes of luring potential new customers doesn't sit very well.

Keep in mind that these videos are essentially free advertising for Nintendo's games.  Now that Nintendo has taken this action, people will no longer make these videos for Nintendo's first-party games as there is no incentive to do so.  Instead, these video creators will focus their efforts on games from less hostile publishers that appreciate the free publicity.  Nintendo will no longer benefit from this free advertising.

This is a classic case of stepping over a dollar to pick up a penny.  With the dismal state of the Wii U, Nintendo should be encouraging people to spread the word about their games and their hardware, not stifling it.

I've seen several people around the web try and compare this to people that post music videos. However that is comparing apples and elephants.  When someone posts a music video, they have posted the entire entertainment experience.  One could substitute a music video for an iTunes purchase and then experience would be identical and complete.  A 30-minute let's play video of a 20 hour game is but a fraction of the total experience.  Even a full playthrough doesn't provide anything near the total experience that you get from playing the game on your own.  It is but a sampling...an encouragement to go purchase the game yourself if you enjoy the video.

Even though Mega Man 2 is my favorite, I voted for 3 because it doesn't seem to be the topic of conversation as often.

TalkBack / Re: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate Review
« on: March 07, 2013, 07:53:44 PM »
Okay, I played SotN, AoS, DoS, PoR, and OoE, and knowing all of those acronyms like the back of my hand doesn't make me snooty in the least.

But I did just play the demo, and that was really...underwhelming.  Are they really better in the full retail, because you're right, the controls are a little sloppy in the demo, and I was not thrilled with the framerate either.   And the graphics weren't great either--- it seems like they had a good engine to start with, so it could have looked great, but they got a 14-year old to do the textures.

I totally don't mind the God-Of-War-ness, but these are issues....

I agree.  When I see a game with "Castlevania" on the box then I expect it to play like a Castlevania game.  Instead this is God of Castlevania (or Castlevania of War).  The controls in the demo were very sloppy and the gameplay was more irritating than fun.  Whoever decided to add quick time events to boss fights needs to take a game design course that wasn't written in 1995.

And to the people claiming that the demo isn't representative of the final game and you shouldn't judge the game based on the demo...who's fault is that.  The entire purpose of a demo is to entice people into purchasing the full product.  If a developer releases a crap demo to a game and people judge the game based on the demo, the developer is 100% at fault.

I didn't see any framerate issues and the 3D looked pretty...but I'm not slogging my way through a $40 game for 10 hours simply because it looks nice.

To each his own.  :cool;

Rondo of Blood would fit in nice with the upcoming Castlevania release for 3DS.  A good compare and contrast of the series old and new.

I'm sure you'll be able to find both the posters and the playing cards on eBay around the beginning of November.

Which also means if you lose your system then you are SOL because you can't file a police report over a something you lost.  We'll see how well it works out for Jonny...I'm guessing that it will be a nightmare.  This is the exact reason why I will never purchase any full price retail games on the eShop.

Nintendo still doesn't get it when it comes to running an online service.  They need establish a way for the consumer to activate and deactivate devices so that way they don't need to be mailing police reports and hardware to NOA for something as simple as transferring games to a new device.  That method is the widely successful system that all other devices use.  Of course, Nintendo will stick with their broken ways of old.

Secondly, since when do NOA CSR's have inside information?  How about never.  This guy has no credibility to put out this statement.
