The third Mario sports title is retaking the pitch.

Mario Strikers: Battle League is a 5v5 arcade soccer game that will be available on June 10. Players will be able to use high-powered shots (capable of scoring multiple goals at once in some cases) and Mario series weaponry in the title, which will feature local play for up to 8 players as well as online league play for up to 20 teams.

Previous Mario soccer titles have been developed by Next Level Games, the Vancouver-based developer of Luigi's Mansion 3 that was acquired by Nintendo early in 2021. The developer has not been identified but we have asked Nintendo of America for clarification.

They look like they're about to play football rather than soccer

Of course they look like they are about to play Football. Soccer is just what you silly Americans call Football. It's the same thing.

I was hoping to see something new from Next Level Games since they're got the talent (yeah I know this isn't confirmed but this looks like their style), and I also didn't like the first two Strikers. With that said, this game does look better at least.

This is a day one buy and my first Strikers game. Since I don't like sports IRL I always skipped these in the past, but Wii U droughts led me to give Mario Sports games a try and they are usually a blast. I have gotten more than money's worth out of Aces and Rush on switch. The gameplay is promising, especially with those super moves, and Rosalina is there!
