Caption some E3-themed images and get the chance to win any of four Amiibo over the next three days! Update: Congratulations to the winner!

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is always an exciting time for Nintendo fans, and this year is no different! To thank all our readers for their passion and support we'd like to get into the fun by giving away an Amiibo a day over a three-day E3 Caption Contest!

Each day we'll supply a handful of E3 related images, and all you need to do is select one of the images, think up a caption for it, and post below in the forum talkback thread for that article! There will be a different set of images each day, so be sure to enter for all three themes! (Only your FIRST caption entered each day will be valid for the contest, but feel free to keep listing down more for fun!)

At the end of the contest the NWR staff will select a winner for each day's theme, but even if you're not selected don't despair! An additional fourth winner will be randomly selected from all the other valid entries and also awarded an Amiibo!

Instructions:

  1. Log in or Register into our forums
  2. Click the "Add to the discussion!" link at the bottom of this article to start a post
  3. Write down the image you're captioning (for example "Image 1")
  4. Write down the caption for that image (for example, "This isn't a set, it's Bill Trinen's actual living room")
  5. Hit Post!

Prizes:

Day 1: Wii Fit Trainer Amiibo (JPN version)
Day 2: Villager Amiibo (JPN version)
Day 3: Silver Mario Amiibo
Random Drawing: Mario Amiibo

UPDATE: Day 2 is now active!

With no further ado, here are your day 1 image choices, each from yesterday's Nintendo Digital Event! Get captioning!

I know only the first counts, but I thought it would be fun to try them all.

1

Nintendo's return to the love hotel business take an unsettling turn.

2

Mr. Kondo and Mr. Miyamoto volunteer at a local orphanage, delighting a young maracas player.

3

Mario Galaxy pioneered the "girlfriend mode," but Yoshi's new title is the first with a grandma mode.  With only a knitting needle and ball of yarn, she can join in the fun.  She's really helping!

4

For the sake of pragmatism, Nintendo has decided to sell Amiibos by the basket directly to scalpers.

5

With just a turn of the base, you can easily change this gadget from a Skylander into an Amiibo.  Previous editions allowed the ability to change from a Cabbage Patch Kid into a Guitar Hero controller, or from a Tomogatchi into a Pog.

The short-lived but high-budget Japanese reality television show "Let's Go, Miyamoto!" followed Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto as he wandered aimlessly around his home and neighborhood in search of inspiration for the next big Nintendo hit. Despite only two episodes ever being produced, the live-action program managed to attract an enthusiastic and faithful global following. Following its swift and (some would say inevitable) cancellation, dedicated fans attempted to continue Mr. Miyamoto's adventures online—in puppet form (as seen above). This fan-led iteration of the production, which featured a puppet version of Mr. Miyamoto playfully driving scale-model trains and teaching his pet piranha plants to eat turnips instead of people, eventually eclipsed its predecessor in popularity for a short time before drawing the attention of the Nintendo legal team. In a surprising turn of events, however, the fan-led program—which eventually came to be known colloquially as "Shiggy Fix"—won over most members of the legal team to their cause, and legal action was halted. "It's just so… so cute," said one source who spoke on condition of anonymity. The producers of the series continue this day to produce episodes, expanding its original cast of Miyamoto and his piranha plants to include a red Pikmin, a spider monkey and the hand of an unnamed member of the production crew. Asked for comment on his likeness being used in such a manner, the enigmatic Mr. Miyamoto chuckled, sat down at a nearby baby grand piano and played a surprisingly faithful and moving rendition of the intro music to the original Animal Crossing.

Please note that while my judgement of captions is of the utmost accuracy, it is not a part of the criteria for winning a day's caption contest.
