Purchasing the packaged version has a few pluses over the digital version in Japan.

I opted to go with picking up a packaged version of New Super Mario Bros. 2 today. On top of getting the game for about 800 yen cheaper than the list price (a common practice in Japan), I was delighted to discover the game had a reversible cover with it as well! Check it out below and chime in on which one is the better option!

Pretty much what you would expect

It's definitely an awesome reversible cover! I'm glad I chose the boxed game instead of the download as well. But 800 yen off?! Please share where u get this great deal!  ;D

Yamada Denki! Boom!

Actually, there are quite a few outlets online that are selling them for even around the same. Amazon.jp, Also here.

Ah Yamada Denki. None of those around me. I went to Yodobashi Camera which had the boxed NSMB2 for 4320 yen.

The download cards for both Oni training and NSMB2 were the same price as on the eShop. Japan needs to really fix this pricing problem. Make them at least the same price as the boxed games!

Hopefully Nintendo does this for the American release as well. So far the only game with something on the inside of the cover is Kid Icarus Uprising. Fingers crossed...

Do you mean the 3DS? Because the New Play Control! games (at least some of them) have this too.

I was really hoping that the reverse cover would actually be a 'reverse' cover. In other words, rather than Mario happily bouncing through the Mushroom Kingdom surrounded by coins, he's slouched over a dust bin looking for a mushroom because he's destitute...Just me then?

I fully endorse this.
