As Neal mentioned, I will be in Amsterdam on Wednesday for this Nintendo 3DS Preview Event/Launch Event. This is very exciting, I'll be flying out from London in the morning and returning in the evening. It's the first time really that there's been a big launch announcement in Europe, usually the press announcements are made following the US Media Summit. I can't remember in recent times a simultaneous Western announcement for a Nintendo product, this just shows us how big the 3DS is expected to be.

The conference will take place at 3 p.m. Amsterdam time (GMT+1). This is exactly the same time that the New York event is scheduled to begin. It is likely that Laurent Fischer, Managing Director of Marketing and PR for Nintendo of Europe will be hosting the presentation. Key members of Nintendo UK including David Yarnton, Managing Director are confirmed to be attending. UK television's Jonathan Ross is expected to attend as a celebrity guest speaker.

Following the presentation is hands-on time with the 3DS, interviews, and developer roundtables. Producers from Konami, Capcom, and Koei Tecmo are confirmed to be leading roundtable presentations. The event will end at around 8 p.m. an hour earlier than New York. At Nintendo World 2011, Yoshinori Ono did a presentation for Super Street Fighter IV 3D, Masahiro Kawada presented Resident Evil: Revelations and Mercenaries (watchable on Nintendo's site), and I expect that these will be repeated in English. The Konami demonstration is likely to be for Pro Evolution Soccer 3D, with Shinji Enomoto and Naoya Hatsumi confirmed for the event. Koei Tecmo are likely to be demonstrating Samurai/Dynasty Warriors Chronicles.

I am of course excited to hear the launch details first-hand, and while I already spent some time with the 3DS, having played it at two events last year, Ocarina of Time was not yet playable, and Nintendogs + Cats was - Cats. I'm curious as to whether cat washing will be possible.

The Amsterdam event can be streamed live from Nintendo of Europe from 9 a.m. Eastern on Wednesday January 19, 2011.
