With so many great Nintendo DS games on the way, we decided to narrow down the very best titles coming to the platform in the next twelve months.

Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light

Publisher: Square Enix

Developer: Matrix Software

Genre: Role-Playing Game

Release Date: October 5, 2010

The Final Fantasy series is certainly no stranger to the Nintendo DS, with titles such as Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Rings of Fate having already arrived on the system. Come this fall though, yet another Final Fantasy title will hit the handheld, and while it may be look a little different on the outside, it contains all of the classic elements that gamers have come to enjoy from the franchise.

From the creators of Nintendo DS remakes of Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light is set in a fairy-tale world, and the visual style certainly reflects that. The visual style may look a little childish on the exterior, but this is certainly no children's title.

The story of the game starts in the small kingdom of Horne, where the protagonist known as Brandt awakens on the morning of his 14th birthday. In the kingdom, your 14th birthday distinguishes you as an adult and all people must go to the kingdom to meet the king then. Yet when he arrives, he learns that Witch of the North has stolen the princess. With no one else to ask, the king asks Brandt to go on a quest to save his daughter.

The combat this time around is what Final Fantasy veterans have come to love, and the Crown Job System offers more than two dozen jobs to choose from. Players can also customize their character's abilities and magic skills this time around, too. A multiplayer mode has also been included in the game, which allows friends to journey through the adventure together cooperatively.

Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light promises to be one of the better handheld Final Fantasy games in recent memory, and gamers can see for themselves how the game turned out when it releases on October 5, 2010.

Super Scribblenauts

Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment

Developer: 5th Cell

Genre: Social Puzzle

Release Date:October 2010

The original Scribblenauts was one of the biggest surprise hits on the Nintendo DS last year, selling almost a million copies in North America alone. With that type of success, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that 5th Cell headed back to the drawing board to start working on yet another Scribbleanuts.

Super Scribblenauts promises to expand on the gameplay of the original and instead of just summoning objects to the screen, you can now customize them using adjectives. Adjectives can change the color, size, elements, behaviors, and many other aspects of an object. And as if using one adjective isn't enough, 5th Cell has now allowed players to combine multiple adjectives.

Besides new gameplay mechanics, more than 120 new levels and 10 000 adjectives been added. A new feedback system has been implanted this time around, which gives you a thumbs up for relevant objects and a thumbs down for irrelevant objects. There is even a level editor, which allows gamers to now create their very own levels.

There are two different control schemes are present this time around: stylus controls and D-pad. One of the biggest problems many gamers had with the original was the imprecise controls, and thankfully 5th Cell has finer tuned them to make them less frustrating.

The "super" in the title of Super Scribblenauts certainly deserves to be there as this by far the superior version of Scribblenauts. While no exact release date has been confirmed as of yet, 5th Cell has promised that gamers can jump into the shoes of Maxwell again come this October. Until then though, you can see what Karlie thought of the game in her impressions
