Nintendo World Report highlights the best of the year that was.
The GameCube has had some pretty-looking games in its lifetime, but unfortunately the system died a premature death before anyone could truly take it to its limits. There were still some lookers released in 2006, though, and the NWR Award for Best GameCube Graphics goes to the one that turned the most heads.
The only way Zelda wasn't going to be the best-looking GameCube game of 2006 was if it got pushed back into 2007; that scenario wasn't too far-fetched given the GC version's snubbing to the Wii version. No matter the situation, Twilight Princess is far and away the prettiest GC game of the year, and definitely in the top three in the GameCube's history. Vast fields, beautiful art and sexy character models make for a stunning game. It really is a sight to behold.
Runner-up: Baten Kaitos Origins
Yes, there were other GameCube games released in 2006. One of them was the prequel to 2005's Baten Kaitos, the appropriately titled Baten Kaitos Origins. The breathtaking backdrops from the original were made even better in the sequel, as well was just about every other part of the game. Though there weren't many games competing in the category, it's still deserving of the runner-up spot.
