Do cute ninjas and tower defense mix? Find out in the fifth edition of Extra Life.
Ninjatown is based on former EGM staffer Shawn Smith's line of Shawnimals, a line of designer toys and plush. Each character has a story, and apparently there's a little ninja dude who has a big story that needed to be packed into a DS game in 2008, and later, an iPhone game in 2010. It's developed by Venan Entertainment, who primarily make games for the iPhone, and is the only DS game they have made.

Apparently, this is an awesome strategy game. We reviewed back when it came out and heaped praise onto it. Being ignorant, I ignored the title. At first glance, Ninjatown looks overly cutesy. Seriously, look at that little guy. He's freaking adorable with his little throwing star. He looks straight-up huggable. But, of course, there are some little bastards that need to be put in their place, so it looks like that throwing star will need to be put to good use.

Falling in with the theme of nearly every game, there's some sort of disaster that disrupts the town, and then the villainous Mr. Demon comes about and rains on everyone's parade. You have to use the "unique and adorable skills" of all the different ninjas to save Ninjatown. There's also a two-player mode for both Single- and Multi-Card Play. Well, that sounds entertaining. This might just…wait…that ninja on the back cover is totally wearing a tie. Screw anymore explanation, I've got to check this game out.
