Jon "Iron Man" Lindemann is out this week, but due to James "The Worst Host" Jones' inability to book a guest his usually mostly-vacant seat is totally vacant.

Guillaume gets the honor of kicking off New Business this week. He's back on the Kirby Star Allies charm offensive, but this game is still a Kirby game, so there's not much left to say on the matter. He's mostly been playing Doom, the first of Panic Button's "how did they do it" Switch ports. Greg finally delivered on the promise of the 2DS, by importing one from Japan to bypass Nintendo's region locking strategy. His first foray into Japan-only 3DS games is Yoshi no Panepon - a franchise killed by Nintendo's decision to localize it using a brand name they didn't own. He then takes a look at EX Troopers, the anime-infused 3DS/PS3 Lost Planet spin-off. Even without English text, it's pretty enjoyable. James closes out New Business spending way too much time talking about Minit. The Zelda-inspired Speed Runner simulator makes you pick objectives you can complete within 60 seconds.

After the break, the trio picks out a trio of emails. This week we: figure out where Animal Crossing is at, put a leaky spin on Franchise Executioner, and push the Dragon Quest franchise for Summer Slam. You too can make a face-turn by sending us an email

Good show.

Curious thing about EX Troopers (that I might have missed hearing you guys mention it) is that it is a spin-off game of the Lost Planet series.

EDIT: Ah, you guys mentioned it a lot. Now I question my hearing and/or attention.

Ni no Kuni II sold over 900,000 units in two months, so I don't think it's accurate to say that it sold like crap. Also, funnily enough, this is an example of a game that DID try to do something to set itself apart (and arguably cater more to the West) by moving more towards action combat.

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that Dragon Quest XI will fail to make inroads in the West (like everyone on the show seems to believe). For all of Square Enix's questionable decisions regarding the series, they did address the biggest asks from Western fans by 1) including voice acting, and 2) having a day and date release on PC (which should also indirectly address the issue of the MIDI soundtrack and is something most Japanese third party releases still can't get right), so it's not like they spent this last year doing absolutely nothing or failing to make the release better in ways that may not have been achievable with a worldwide launch. Going to another recent example, Fire Emblem Fates came out 8 months later in North America (and almost an entire year later in Europe) and that game still sold very well, so I don't believe this is as big a deal as it's made out to be in general (especially since Dragon Quest XI is coming out 13 months later, not "18 months later" lol).

While it may be too late for Gui and Karen, you can change the settings on Kirby Star Allies so that those hint signs showing which abilities to use are not shown. It is in the options menu.

Dang it James Jones! What's with badmouthing of High Voltage? They put out fun games that were unique as Wii exclusives.

As a father I wish James would cut back on the bad words. I listen to pod cast in the car and while I take my kids to school and pick them up and all my other nintendo podcast are fine but then here’s Jane cursing every five minutes. I had to turn this episode off right now after like the 5th bomb in five minutes.

I’m not saying don’t curse at all but just a bit of restraint. You’re the only one in the group that curses this much by a wide margin.

The tag-line after all is a "Nintendo Podcast for Grownups"

KobeskillzSeptember 06, 2018

That's fine. Roast me if you want.

As a long time fan that listens to this great podcast at work, car anywhere and also has a family i would appreciated if a bit less cursing was used.

That's all. If he tells me to f off no i won't then thats fine. What can i do. I'll just listen to something else in those environments. But as a fan i would really appreciated it.

Oh and hey if you think cursing means your an adult then you have a rude awakening. You can be a Nintendo podcast for adults without the cursing. lol.
