Pinball of the Dead

by Max Lake - December 11, 2001, 2:41 pm EST

From the “House of…” to the “Typing of…” Sega’s zombie legions of “Dead” have now come to the Game Boy Advance for some pinball action.

A new mini press release has been issued about "The Pinball of the Dead."

The Pinball of the Dead challenges you to shoot, tilt, and flip your way across 3 boards in order to rescue citizens and destroy zombies. Each board (inspired by The House of the Dead series) features 3-tiers packed with challenges, hidden horrors, and bosses.

Sega’s shooting game House of the Dead has become a popular franchise for the company in recent years—so popular that a feature film is in the works and the series has spun into other genres. Following the Typing of the Dead for DC and PC, Sega has now announced House of the Dead Pinball, which is a pinball game. What kind of pinball game could this be? Sega has released a couple screenshots which give some indication. Now, preparing to show the game at TGS have released this press release:

"So-called "pinball games as video games" have appeared many times before. However, most of them were just simulators trying as much as possible to reproduce the "actual pinball" experience. With "The Pinball of the Dead", we added video-game looking art to the actual pinball, and produced the refreshing feelings and sense of fulfillment associated with action video games. Zombies show up on the table and attack the people of the city. As you shoot them down with balls, a huge zombie will appear. It's a feature like this that is particular to video games that will make the original fun elements of pinball stand out."
