Zach doesn't care about football; Andy doesn't care about Transformers; none of us care about monkeys.

This week, the Newscast trio is joined by the newest staff member Nathan Mustafa who has the unfortunate task of reviewing Manic Monkey Mayhem on WiiWare.

Neal bores Zach by talking about football for 20 minutes, and then Andy checks out while Zach and Neal talk about Transformers.   After all that, we all tag team while we pile onto a few new WiiWare games, specifically Happy Birthday Mart.

Thanks to Adolph Vega for the review of ArtStyle Rotozoa!  Check out his full review here.

Thanks for reading my email. I'm still listening

but if anyone is curious is my Video Review: Art Style: Rotozoa  (Penta Tentacles in Europe) : Wiiware Review

Regarding FF sales: XIII charted 3rd (PS3 - 898k)/6th (360 - 493k) in March 2010, selling 1.3 million combined, but neither version showed up in the top 20 since. It'll probably clear 2 million combined by the end of the year.

For what it's worth, XII debuted #2 in November '06 with 896k. (Source: vgsales.wikia.com)

Activision has really made a name for themselves this generation: whenever I see a Wii game published by Activision I know to stay far away.  Sadly, it sounds like Transformers only further solidifies that reputation.

Maybe I'm being too harsh though?  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex is good (despite being a couple years late and lacking any advertising support).  Guitar Hero has mostly been a solid franchise too, except for a batch of mono-only discs that apparently missed the QA process and had to be replaced through a lengthy mail-in process.

It still seems sad that the world's biggest publisher can't muster up more than a half dozen Wii games worth buying, all from two series and consisting mostly of watered down ports instead of original content.  Especially when the Activision name once was the sign of quality.

Sorry for the rant.  Hearing about the difference between Transformers on Wii and on other consoles just brought the festering wound that is Activision back to mind... and I couldn't help scratch a little bit.

Especially when the Activision name once was the sign of quality.

When was Activision ever known for quality? I've always thought the general perception was that their games vary greatly in quality, some bad ones, some good ones. Similar to Midway, Capcom, Ubisoft, EA, and numerous other companies.

Activision was dare I say exciting a number of years ago. The early Tony Hawk games were excellent, and their initial foray into Marvel games were amazing.
