You'll be able to manage your own afterlife ferry and care for spirit friends on Nintendo's hybrid console in 2020.
Spiritfarer, the newly revealed "cozy management game about dying" from Thunder Lotus Games, is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Revealed at the Microsoft E3 2019 Press Conference, the game features hand drawn art from a 2D sideways perspective as the player manages their own ferry to the afterlife, befriending and caring for spirit friends during the journey. The game is slated for a 2020 release.

Diablo and Minecraft have a baby.
Minecraft Dungeons is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Featured at the Microsoft E3 2019 Press Conference, the game's full trailer shows the Switch logo among a variety of platforms for the Minecraft franchise's new Dungeon Crawler entry. The game is slated for a 2020 release and claims to support 4-player local and online co-op.

Sakurai, you're such a tease.
We don't have to wait much longer to find out who will be the second DLC fighter for Smash Bros Ultimate.
In a video following the conclusion of the Smash Bros world championship, Masahiro Sakurai appeared to congratulate the winning team, and to announce that the second fighter in the Fighter's Pass will be revealed Tuesday in the E3 Nintendo Direct.

Order and chaos: who ya got?
Splatoon 2's final Splatfest will be one for the ages.
The final Splatfest of the promised two years will run from July 18 - 21, featuring the theme of Order vs Chaos. In this Splatfest, all Shifty Stations will be playable, including a new one.
Following the Splatfest, Version 5.0 will release that will add the option to play all previous Splatfests in Private Battle, with their Shifty Stations and at night..

Good news: No Frostbite. Bad news: no indoor games.
FIFA will continue to take the Switch pitch this year, but in a relegated form.
Electronic Arts have confirmed a FIFA 20 Legacy Edition will release on Switch September 27, the same day as the regular release for the other platforms. The "Legacy Edition" moniker, applied to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions last year, means the same modes and core gameplay as the previous FIFA 19, but with updated rosters.

Information retrieved from Bandai Namco suggests that Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch will be released on Switch. Bandai Namco is the western publisher of the 2013 PlayStation 3 game developed by Level-5 with designs from Studio Ghibli. A version of the story was published in Japan for the DS in 2010.

Nintendo has confirmed details about games that will be playable at E3 and elsewhere.
Pokémon Sword and Shield, Link's Awakening, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 "...and more!" will be playable in the Nintendo booth during the three day event. 80 US Best Buy stores will also be offering the Marvel demo: details can be found on Best Buy's website.

What you see is what you catch.
Pokémon Sword and Shield will replace random encounters with overworld models and randomized hiding spots, as shown in the new trailer from today’s Direct.
Creatures still hide in tall grass but alert players with an exclamation point. Other Pokémon roam the land and may charge or run away from the player once spotted. At one point in the trailer, the player coaxes a Stufful out from its hiding spot with a whistle.

The June lineup of NES games for Switch Online will hit the road, a ball, and a lot of thugs.
June's additions, due on the 12th, will be Volleyball (Nintendo), City Connection (Jaleco), and Double Dragon II: The Revenge (Technos/Arc System Works). Both Double Dragon II and City Connection have releases as part of the Arcade Archives.

The remainder of the lineup for the Genesis Mini has been revealed, and it's a bit bigger than originally advertised.
Following a previous announcement of Mega Man: The Wily Wars, Street Fighter II Special Championship Edition, and Phantasy Star IV among others a couple of weeks ago, Sega announced 12 more games for the mini console today to bring the total game lineup to 42 games.

The review for Persona Q2: Shadow of the Labyrinth - possibly the last 3DS retail game ever for this column - is the headliner for the downloads, but the Switch has a couple of bigguns too.
