Iwata Confirms E3 Plans Wii

The Wii Vitality Sensor, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Zelda Wii will make an appearance at this year's E3.

In a recent investor's meeting held in Tokyo, Japan, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has revealed what the company has planned for E3 2010.

For the Wii, Iwata confirmed that Super Mario Galaxy 2, the Wii Vitality Sensor and its software, and Zelda Wii will make an appearance at the show. All three were confirmed at last year's show, but only Super Mario Galaxy 2 appeared in trailer form.

Capcom to Focus More Game Development in Japan

Monster Hunter Tri Tops 1 Million in Japan Wii

Even when Monster Hunter sells modestly, it does pretty darn well.

Capcom's recent Q3 2009 financial earnings statement listed the life-to-date sales numbers for one of its biggest Wii titles, Monster Hunter Tri. Since its Japanese release on August 1 2009, the game has sold 1.15 million copies.

Trauma Team Sees Delay Wii

Trauma Team has been delayed by Atlus one month , from April 20 to May 18.

Along with the announcement of the delay, Atlus unveiled a new trailer which shows off some of the orthopedics gameplay. Orthopedics is one of the new specialties in Trauma Team, and it comes with both a unique visual style, and a lack of time limit.

Dragon Quest VI Debuts Big in Japan

Square Enix’s latest Dragon Quest remake garners initial sales far beyond previous titles.

Square Enix shifted 909,981copies of Dragon Quest VI in its first four days on the market, making it the best-selling Dragon Quest remake on the Nintendo DS in Japan. For comparison, Dragon Quest IV started out with first-week sales of approximately 602,000, while Dragon Quest V debuted with sales of 679,000.

THQ Bringing Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! to Wii and DS Wii

The Wii versions might make use of Wii Speak, according to THQ.

THQ acquired the rights from Sony Pictures Consumer Products to create games based on Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune for the Wii, DS, and DSi.

While the games based on the hit game shows aren't expected to reach store shelves until later this year, Doug Clemmer, THQ's executive vice president of Kids, Family and Casual Games revealed that the Wii versions will likely have online voice chat.

Monster Hunter Tri to Support Wii Speak Wii

Nintendo confirms the addition of chat functionality, and a new bundle to go along with it.

Today Nintendo of Europe issued a press release confirming that the Western version of Capcom's Monster Hunter Tri will feature Wii Speak compatibility. This often-requested functionality will allow gamers to talk to each other while hunting monsters online, creating strategies and assisting each other in real time.

Rondo of Blood Coming to VC as Import Title Wii

Konami's classic looks to be available soon, but only in Japanese.

SiliconEra recently talked to Konami regarding Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, which showed up on the ESRB's game rating list earlier this week.

A representative confirmed to the website that the game is coming to the North American Virtual Console "shortly" as an import selection, and like other import titles it will not be translated into English.

Iwata Not Impressed by iPad, 3D Gaming

At a recent event at a Tokyo Hotel, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata expressed his skepticism of Apple's iPad, 3D gaming, and the importance of high-definition capabilities for game consoles.

The iPad, revealed last Wednesday by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, was dismissed by Iwata as "a bigger iPod Touch". He stated his feelings quite bluntly: "There were no surprises for me."

Nintendo's plumber is back on top.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a monster. Not only is the game the fastest-selling Wii title in Japan, but it’s managed to keep quite a few high-profile games off the top spot of the sales charts. Through the eight weeks that it’s been available, it has reigned supreme on five different occasions, preventing some big-name games like The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and Tomodachi Collection from reaching the summit.
