Fashionably late, as befits a streamer.
After two days of speculation, the ace Pokemon of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's gym leader Iono has been revealed.
The new Pokemon is Bellifrog, an Electric-type Pokemon with no second type. As promised in the initial guessing game, they have two lumps on the sides of their head that resemble eyes though their face is smaller and facing front. They also expand their body to produce electricity.

New information has been revealed (?) about another of the Gym Leaders of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

"Last year was the trailer, now you get to see the movie." And the Super Mario animated movie will be about as good as the 2022 Blue Jays bullpen.
Things we missed last week: Let's Play Curling did end up coming out in the US (and Europe as well), the Archives title was the original Darius. And Japan got the Game Boy version of Sagaia for... reasons.
Last week was Nier and No Man's Sky, next week is Persona 5 Royal and Mario + Rabbids 2:... Read more...

If someone can come up with some way for the news desk to get out of work for a couple of months, that'd be much appreciated.
Atlus has confirmed the launch dates for the other two parts of the modern Persona trilogy spearheaded by 5 Royal's October 21 launch.
The company confirmed in a social media posting this morning that Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden would come to "modern consoles" on January 19: although... Read more...

The settling of the great debate: Fairy/Psychic, Ghost/Dragon, or Dark/Figh... oh, not that starter triangle?
The second post-launch Splatfest in Splatoon 3 will be visiting the Paldea region.
A Splatfest has been announced from November 11 - 13 beginning at 7 p.m. EST (4 p.m. PST), and the three sides will be the classic Pokemon starter question of the Grass-type, Fire-type, or Water-type . This is indicated... Read more...

Well, haven't seen this one in a while.
The next N64 game for the Switch Online Expansion Pack is, as promised, the other worldwide launch title for the platform.
Pilotwings 64 will be the next title to enter the Expansion Pack on October 13. The other title that launched with the N64 in all territories, this release will mark the first time it has re-released anywhere since its debut in 1996.

No, you don't have to format your device after reading this list.
Things we missed last week: The Life is Strange Arcadia Bay Collection, the Skyrim Anniversary content which apparently the mods have issues on Switch (pretends to be shocked) and the release list swelled to a total of 62 games + 1 cloud streaming app which is the second largest release week in the... First shown on Wiglett Wednesday, but now it's official.
The newest Pokemon for Scarlet and Violet might have been confused as a regional variant, but is apparently an entirely new species.
The Pokemon Company have released a video showing off Wiglett, a new Water-type Pokemon. The bilateral (think worm) Pokemon is only known to possess Water Pulse as a move.

This nearly ended up late because I haven't been wrecked this hard by Fiona since high school.
Things we missed last week: In addition to Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival, we got shadowdrops on Midnight Fight Express, Serial Cleaners, Wylde Flowers, and Archives title The Return of Ishtar (the sequel to The Tower of Druaga).
Fiona kept me from playing a lot this weekend - and before you... Read more...

Was Xenoblade 3's halo effect enough to carry the day?
A relatively quiet month for the Switch and the release of a series that has skipped Nintendo consoles for a decade led to a slight sales slump for Nintendo in the US, according to the latest NPD Group sales survey.
Data is from July 31 - August 26, based on dollars unless noted otherwise, publishers can contribute digital data but Nintendo does not.

Memo to Idea Factory International and Aksys: NEVER DO THIS AGAIN.
Things we missed last week: Festivus (aka a Nintendo Direct) WAS declared, with three shadowdrops (Easy Come, Easy Golf/Various Daylife/Radiant Silvergun) among the number. For reasons still unclear, the last one was yanked from the eShop immediately in North America... hopefully just a ratings board snafu that can be fixed quickly, especially since it's in Europe and Japan still.

You thought Pilotwings 64 was the only news we'd get for the pack this week. Don't worry, we did too.
The Genesis library for the NSO Expansion Pack has picked up three more titles in a just-released update.

Taking the one GOOD part of Super Mario Sunshine.
Great games can come from unexpected concepts, and so it is with the newest title from the developers of Velocity2x.
FuturLabs have announced that PowerWash Simulator, which launched in July on PC and Xbox consoles, will come to Switch "soon". As the name implies, it involves cleaning dirt off of houses with a power washer in the town of Muckingham.

So you know when to dodge SaGa or stampede the eShop for the Neo The World Ends With You tracks.
Thanks to the eShop, we have estimates for most of the DLC for the recently-announced Theatrhythm Final Bar Line - this information may change before launch, but as a Digital Deluxe Edition and Premium Digital Deluxe Edition are available for $30 and $50 US over the main price, it should be examined.
