by Justin Wood - 10:07 pm EDT
Source: Nintendo

As you know, many of us at PGC have already played Nintendo 64's successor GAMECUBE more than a few times. However come September 24th, you will get your chance at some GameCube lovin'!

This afternoon I had the chance to speak with a Nintendo rep about Nintendo's plans to get the GAMECUBE gospel out.

It seems that begining on September 24th Nintendo will roll out POP materials and gaming Kiosks at several major retailers including Best Buy and Toys R Us.

Though at the time the rep was unsure of what games would be playable, it was speculated that either Luigi's Mansion or Wave Race could make the cut.

by Jonathan Metts - 2:25 pm EDT
Source: Silicon Knights

Denis Dyack finally explains why Eternal Darkness was silently moved into December.

Back in July, we began seeing Eternal Darkness listed for release in December unstead of at the GameCube launch, which was then November 5th for North America. A quick look at Nintendo's official site verified the one-month delay, but we were unable to get an explanation from either Nintendo or Silicon Knights. Now SK president Denis Dyack has come forward to clear things up about the December date:

This year's most neglected show had a few hits on Nintendo consoles. Here's what they were...

ECTS was not that big of a show this year, but that doesn't mean it didn't have good games! A panel of European gaming journalists was formed to choose the most outstanding games at the event, and Nintendo 3rd party games came out on top.

Rage's "Denki Blocks" for GBA won both "Overall Best Game" and "Best Handheld Game." Meanwhile, Kemco's "Universal Studios" won the honored title of "Best Console Game."

GameCube slogan Revealed! GC

by David Trammell - 8:10 am EDT
Source: Nintendo of America

What could GameCube's slogan be? It isn't "Now you're playing with power," "Play it loud," or "Get into it!" It's brand new!

It seems that in addition to the subtle magazine campaign that has already begun, Nintendo has some very limited TV advertising on air. This Labor Day morning on Cartoon Network, PGC staffer David Trammell, caught an ad for the forth coming Cartoon Network Toonami special, Lockdown. After the ad,... Read more...

Monkey Ball Arcade Game hits Japan! GC

by Billy Berghammer - 10:09 am EDT

While visiting Club Sega in Shibuya yesterday, Billy got a chance to play Monkey Ball. Is it that different than the GameCube version?

I’ve been to plenty of arcades here in Japan in the past 2 weeks but had not seen Monkey Ball. Even in Akihabara, there was no sign of Monkey Ball anywhere. There’s plenty of Virtua Fighter 4, Tekken 4, Dance Dance Revolution, and everything else. While strolling though Shibuya last night I walked into Club Sega and finally found the Monkey Ball Arcade machine...

The Nintendo Show Press Conference

by Karlie Yeung - 4:30 am EDT

Not a transcript, but here's a description of what went on inside.

After an hour and a half of the event start, the doors opened for the conference. The room was slightly smoky and this filled it with the purple light.

After the obligatory "No smoking, no filming, etc." announcement, a gospel choir came through the curtains and burst into song.

Fearless leader Billy B. checks in from Japan. Check out the full report on the state of GameCube ads in Japan.

Billy contacted me from a pay phone in Japan tonight, with some news that would be considered grim. From what he has seen, the GameCube is getting hardly any publicity in Japan. Except for Super Monkey Ball, which you apparently can't get away from. Billy and co had to literally search for a GameCube... Read more...
