Have you always dreamt of having big 'ol fighting arms? Well, this game's for you!
A new IP was shown tonight at the Switch press conference by Nintendo called Arms.
It is a fighting sports game that features you having expendable arms. Movement is similar to boxing, but also like shooting where you aim and fire at distant opponents. You use Joy-Cons in "thumbs up" poses to use moves like twist fist and punch curves. You move your character by tilting the Joy-con, where they can dash and jump.

A quick reaction HD rumble game
The new Joy-Con controllers and their HD Rumble will be put to work in 1-2 Switch.
Touted as a game that plays with face-to-face interaction, 1-2 Switch is a two-player local game of quick reaction. Each player will have one Joy-Con, and various games such as gunfights, rock-paper-scissors and more can be played.

You can play while charging via the USB-C port.
The Nintendo Switch's battery life will range from between 2.5 to 6.5 hours. The wide stated range is apparently driven by the power needs of the game you're playing, as Nintendo made sure to state at the time.

The new console will not apply a region lock "in general."
Nintendo Switch will not be region locked, company president Tatsumi Kimishima confirmed in tonight's Nintendo Switch reveal presentation. Unlike previous Nintendo home consoles and Nintendo 3DS, Switch will allow users to play games from different regions.

Worldwide in all major territories
The Switch will click into place in early March.
The new console will launch simultaneously in North America, Europe, Japan, Australia and Hong Kong on March 3, for a suggested retail price of $299.99 US and 29,980 yen in Japan. European pricing will be determined by retailers as is current Nintendo policy.

Will be free at launch, paid services starting this fall. Update: Nintendo's website provides further details on the suite of paid services (including voice chat), and suggests that a Nintendo Account seems to be integral to the feature.
Nintendo's online services were detailed early in tonight's Switch presentation by Tatsumi Kimishima, current president of Nintendo.
Kimishima mentioned that you will be able to invite friends to play online multiplayer using your smartphone, as well as being able to chat with friends and set up play appointments.

Hoping this becomes a regular feature.
The eShop has updated with "January Digital Deals" for North America that include several retail games.
Titles included in this sale will be discounted until January 25 for North America and Europe. Crossbuy titles will still allow for buy one get one during this period (Severed, Pirate Pop Plus).

Another beautiful Zelda piece from First 4 Figures.
A Majora's Mask statue is now available for pre-order from First 4 Figures. The statue is 25 inches high, 23 inches wide, and has a depth of 13 inches. The statue is scheduled to ship out in Q3 2017.
Two versions of the statue are available. The Exclusive Version, only available from the First 4 Figures site, has eyes that light up and will cost $384.99. The Standard Version, with no lights, sells for $354.99.

Nintendo has given some clarifying details about what to expect with the Switch reveal event on January 12/13.
For Europe, the conference from Japan will be streamed with an English voiceover, while the other languages supported will received subtitled versions later in the day. A similar stream will be used in North America.

Many sales ended to clear the track for a quick photographer.
The first week of the new year brings a light week to yon eShops. Both shops split the difference with Spheroids, another in the trend of Pang clones recently inagurated by Pirate Pop Plus, while North America gets a pre-Christmas zombie game from Europe in the person of Zombie Brigade: No Brain No Gain. Or you can preload one of last decade's best RPGs in the person of Dragon Quest VIII.

A late New Year's gift for the shutterbug Wii U owner.
Pokémon Snap will be North America's first Virtual Console release of 2017.
The 1999 N64 spinoff will release with tomorrow's eShop update for $9.99, with a $2 upgrade option for those who bought it on the Wii. This follows its release in Europe this past August.

The long-delayed and recently rated adventure will hit this spring.
The stylish adventure game Rime was originally announced for the PlayStation 4, but it's now multiplatform - and the Switch will be getting it.
Originally announced in 2013 at Sony's Gamescom press event, the Tequila Works-developed game was revealed as a multiplatform game in the latest IGN First series. Tequila Works went silent on the game in 2014.

The US Federal Communications Commission has unsealed some test reports about the Switch that show some of its hardware capabilities.

The year ends with a second chance and the author's mom staying up until 4am.
The last week of the year has a couple of North American retro releases, but not much else. The Wii U Virtual Console finally gets Mario Kart 64, which is upgrade eligible for the many people who bought it on Wii, and hopefully the upgrade works right from update time. In the realm of the New 3DS, it's another chance for Castlevania Dracula X following its aborted upload last week.

Mario's newest adventure is coming to Android in 2017.
Super Mario Run is now available for pre-registration on the Google Play Store. Pre-registered users will receive a notification when the game is available on Android.
Super Mario Run was first released for iOS devices on December 15th and quickly reached 40 million downloads. The game was first announced at Apple's Special Event in September as an iOS timed exclusive and was later confirmed for a 2017 release on Android.
