May the shadowdrops be bangers.

The world of indie games is getting some love from Nintendo again.

The Nintendo Today app has confirmed an Indie World presentation will air tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET, 7 a.m. PT, and 11:30 in Newfoundland: the presentation will run for approximately 15 minutes.

Indie World last ran in March and included the Switch 2 release of Blue Prince and action title Minishoot Adventures.

Y'all ever see a lineup so big you are forced to immediately go to sleep after posting it?

It's Sickos Week here in the Downloads, and not just because the new post-launch record high of confirmed Switch 2 launches and overstuffed Switch week made the news editor physically ill. The two unquestioned big games of the week are both Switch releases for PC cult hits in the indescribable Titanium... Read more...

By popular demand of the other games writer from Halifax, Nova Scotia: are we going to get a Genesis update soon?

A trio of classic Game Boy titles will be added to the library for basic Nintendo Switch Online subscribers on Tuesday (Monday in North America), joining the GBA update earlier this month for subscribers to the Expansion Pack.

Having finally dealt with simulated gambling in Balatro, PEGI turns their eye on free to play and gacha.

Europe's game rating authority PEGI is turning up the heat on gacha games beyond Belgium outright banning some of them.

Five Nintendo or Nintendo-adjacent games now show a PEGI age rating of 16 in European app stores: Fire Emblem Heroes (character gacha), the now-closed Mario Kart Tour (character... Read more...

I cannot believe this is still a thing.

Hey, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Radio Free Nintendo is about to have its 1000th episode.

Writing the article detailing our plans has proven to be a challenging and deeply humbling experience. It's also been a little embarrassing, and I can’t quite put my finger on the cause.

This week from the war crimes company: war crimes!

In terms of octane of releases, there's two flagrant outliers this week: the first Call of Duty game on a Nintendo system since the last one I played in Ghosts, and the newest game in Nintendo's wide Sports series (of which I believe Wii Sports has outsold each individual entry in the CoD series).... And it's not like every other Monster Hunter demo you may have seen.

The next demo up after Metaphor: Refantazio is going to be an interesting test of the Switch 2.

Capcom have confirmed a "prologue" demo for the Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds will be available starting on October 19. The demo is expected to be equal in content to the demo on the other platforms Wilds is on (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series), with no online play but local multiplayer.

Because Kalla knows this game didn't have enough stuff to do in it.

The inevitable Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave expansion pass got its details - and a launch - tonight.

The pass is now available on the system eShop for US$34.99 or equivalent and will come with three waves of content.

Featuring intentionally watered down drinks, no doubt. Bond is a spy.

The date's the 18th. March 18.

Following the news that 007: First Light was delayed to March 2027 a few weeks ago, IO Interactive have announced the Switch 2 version of 007: First Light will be available on March 18, 2027. Preorders have already opened at most retailers for a Deluxe Edition with additional cosmetics accompanying the Game Key Card.

In a sad irony, the run and gun game is owned by an autocart who favors blades for his extrajudicial killing.

Another trio of Game Boy Advance games are now available on the Nintendo Classics for Switch Online subscribers at the Expansion Pack level, including one making its debut outside Japan.

Keep honking, Square Enix is reloading.

As the 2026 MLB postseason continues and I curse the lack of a meteor landing on the Little Trop of Horrors during Rays / Yankees, we're going live with a new term. In the tradition of baseball acronyms like TOOTBLAN (Thrown Out On The Bases Like A Nimcompoop) we have STANDUP: Switch 2 Available,... Read more...

Featuring something that should've ended four US presidential administrations ago, and also Jonathan Blow's career.

The big ones for Switch 2 this week are in the RPG realm again, with one of them actually being good: Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. And then... there's the out-of-wedlock child of a company that should have gotten the business end of Lena Khan and the Vince Russo of JRPGs, a game series that has... Read more...

Hopefully the team that uses Perfect Bird Time as a crowd pop fares better with it than the Dockers did with Wharfie Time in the Grand Final.

It's another week of Switch 2 games that might be familiar, headlined by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - note you get it 100% off if you bought the Switch version - and a pair of Octopath Travelers that isn't as generous. (They do have a bundle with both games for $75 US or equivalent, which is like getting... Read more...

Last week was record breaking (derogatory), and the last full week of the quarter is usually worse.

Focusing on this week's releases for as long as possible, the rule is "Switch 2 re-releases" with the major releases of the week including Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. Both of which were on the original Switch, both of which have the upgrade policy of "full price... Read more...

"For England, James?" "No. For additional polish."

Since the News Editor doesn't get to take "advantage" of the Customer Appreciation sale, he's going to get his share of tariff refunds when he invoices Nintendo for the time preparing this week's list.

At the start of 2026 I mentioned that I was considering invoicing Nintendo US$10,000 for wasted time entering the weekly releases (my time is valuable, especially since most of it is on weekends). But in a week where the Switch 2 is opening with its biggest week since opening day even without counting... Read more...

Weird they chose to honor the Dreamcast by sticking Sonic in a puzzle game.

Other announcements from today's Nintendo Direct:

If you've lost count of how many ways you can play Resident Evil 2 on Switch 2, you are not alone.

In addition to Monster Hunter, Capcom showed new details on an upcoming anniversary and is bringing a trio of modern remakes to Switch 2.

Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, which all received modern RE Engine remakes over the last several years, will all come to Switch 2 on October 16. RE2 will be its Deluxe Edition and RE4 a "Gold Edition", both of which include all previously released DLC.

Along with a few demos for upcoming games.

Crisis Core and the Mario Kart World update aren't the only shadowdrops today.

Perhaps the biggest one is the first console release for smash hit PC game Meccha Chameleon. It is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game in which the hiders can cover themselves in spray paint in order to help stay away from the seekers.

Will kicking it old school make Mario Kart World more palatable to those who prefer worlds closed?

Two of the best selling Switch 2 games received new information today.

Mario Kart World's version 1.8 update is out now, and in addition to adding two more Knockout Tours a "Vs Race" option is available with ten courses based on courses from the original Super Mario Kart. The courses even use ? blocks that must be driven across on the ground in order to get items alongside the retro track designs.
