Ubi Soft Unwraps The Mummy For The Game Boy® Advance

20 February 2002 – Ubi Soft® Entertainment has signed a worldwide licensing deal with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group (USCPG) to bring the children’s animated TV series, The Mummy, to the Game Boy® Advance hand-held video game system. The Mummy has just been picked up for a second season by the WB, the #1 rated broadcast network for kids in the United States. It is also currently aired on Nickelodeon in Australia, BBC and the Kids Channel in the United Kingdom and Canal J in France.

The Mummy, set in the 1930s, combines round-the-world exotic locations with a contemporary attitude, and plenty of comedy and high-adventure. The series is produced by Universal Home Entertainment Productions, under the creative supervision of producer, director and art director, Joe Barruso, as well as producers and story editors, Tom Pugsley and Greg Klein. John Schneider (Dukes of Hazzard) is the voice of Rick O’Connell and Jim Cummings (former voice of Winnie the Pooh) provides the voice of Imhotep.

In the Ubi Soft game, players will interact with all their favorite characters, while battling both villains from the series and new ones created for the game. The game, which will be developed in Ubi Soft’s internal studios, is scheduled for a worldwide release in the fall of 2002.

“We believe that popular children’s TV shows like The Mummy, make great video games,” said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubi Soft Entertainment Inc. “With high quality animation, and a compelling story line, the game will be just what kids are looking for this holiday season.”

“The confirmation of a second season, puts us in a prime position to kick our licensing program for The Mummy into high gear. Ubi Soft has a terrific line up of video games and The Mummy animated television series is a great addition to their roster,” said Tim Rothwell, senior vice president, merchandising and marketing for USCPG.
