And no, it's not an ED feature film...

Are you an aspiring director? Are you extremely demented and at least able to press the "record" button on a camera? If so, you may have a shot at the $20,000 grand prize in the Eternal Darkness Films contest.

Here's how it works: Go to the ED Films website and register. Then write up a film "treatment"...basically an outline of what your movie would be about, what characters would be involved, etc. The resulting movie would need to be less than five minutes long, so keep that in mind.

Nintendo's panel of judges will choose the ten best film treatments as semifinalists. Then each semifinalist will actually write and film their treatment into a short movie; upon sending the finished product to Nintendo, the semifinalists will receive $2000 in "seed money" to cover their costs.

Each of the top ten entries will be posted at the ED Films website for fans to view and vote on. The Viewer's Choice award is $3000...if the official panel of judges picks your movie, you'll get a whopping $20,000 and a screening of your project at a major film festival!

Note that the contest is only open to people living in the U.S. who are at least 18 years old. Also, film treatments must be for "psychological thrillers", NOT horror flicks. If your movie ain't insane, they're gonna ignore it. The deadline for treatment entries is October 19, 2001.

Special thanks to Matt from N-Gaming for the tip!
