There are now technically more announced Batman titles for the GCN than Mario Brothers games. Yay?
Ubi Soft announced today that Batman: Vengeance and Disney's Tarzan will make their way to the GameCube. No dates were announced for the two titles, but the two games should hopefully arrive within the GameCube's first year. While both games are currently also under development for the PS2, expect Ubi Soft to reveal some GCN exclusives in the near future, as there are still a whopping 17 other games to come from the French publisher.

Activision is bringing Minority Report to every next-generation console and GBA!
Yesterday, Activision announced that they have earned the rights to the upcoming movie "Minority Report," a science fiction film featuring Tom Cruise. Activision has the rights to next summer's Speilburg film for five years on every console and the PC, and will no doubt take advantage of it. Below is a quote from Activision's press release.

In what amounts to a slap on the wrist, Japan's Free Trade Commission (FTC) has ordered Sony to stop the practice of pressuring Wholesalers and retailers to sell it's PS2 at specific prices, a practice known in the US as "price fixing."

Namco's super-popular fighter will make it's debut at Space World, on the Game Boy Advance.
Nintendo Company Limited updated their Space World software lineup list. Added to it was Tekken. "Tekken" is currently a working title and will probably change. But most likely, the new title will have the word "Tekken" in it. More info will be available close to Space World.

LucasArts lets another company publish Rogue Leader in Japan.... with Japanese vocals!
New information regarding Rogue Leader has been revealed. It seems the Japanese version, scheduled for a late December release, will feature Japanese vocal acting to go along with the translated text! Interestingly, LucasArts has announced that it will not publish the title overseas: EA/Square will do the job instead. For not supporting GCN yet themselves, Square seems to be publishing quite a lot of GameCube titles...

Registration was scheduled to begin this morning at 11AM Pacific Time for Camp Hyrule, Nintendo's week-long online chat event for gaming enthusiasts.

Konami, the largest third-party game publisher in Japan, has bought out 38% of Hudson Soft, making them the major shareholder. Hudson is probably best known for the long-running Bomberman series.

Nintendo shells out the big numbers for North America. Plus: Japanese launch colors confirmed.
As originally reported by Nikkei News, then revealed to us by the Mips36 Nintendo GameCube News Page, and finally clarified by GameSpot VG (whew!), here are new GameCube launch details:
- The Japanese launch will consist of 500,000 units, all purple.
- Further colors will be available at a later time in Japan.

We still don't know jack about Rune for GameCube, but at least now we know who's making it.
Nintendo's Japanese Space World site updated today with the name of the company behind the recently announced Rune. The developer is From Software, a Japanese company traditionally affiliated with Sony.
This still doesn't give much insight into what Rune might be, but From Software has experience with mech-combat games (Armored Core) and RPGs (King's Field, Evergrace).
