The strategy role-playing game series returns on the DS.
In the latest Famitsu magazine, Marvelous Entertainment announced Luminous Arc 3: Eyes. Image Epoch is developing the game for release on the DS. Yasunori Mitsuda, who previously worked on titles such as Chrono Trigger and Mario Party, is credited as the soundtrack producer.

Osaka man gets hard time for software piracy.
A judge in Kyoto, Japan has sentenced an Osaka man to 2 years 6 months jail time for selling copied DS games.
38-year-old Yoshiaki Asagiri was found guilty of copyright violations, and also fined ¥2 million with ¥7,135,450 in other penalties. The prosecutors received the financial penalties they requested, but were denied the 4 years 6 months of incarceration they were looking for.

Natsume has announced that Reel Fishing: Angler's Dream has gone gold.
Reel Fishing promises a high degree of realism with players pursuing freshwater and saltwater fish in rivers, lakes, and oceans. Fish can be caught, raised in aquariums, and then released for an extra challenge. There are also over 100 types of tackle to unlock and a two to four-player multiplayer mode for group play.

SEGA officially confirms that you'll be controlling AiAi with the Wii Balance Board.
SEGA has announced Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll, a new Wii-exclusive entry in the Monkey Ball franchise that makes use of the Wii Balance Board. Developed by SEGA Studios Japan, Step & Roll features all-new single-player challenges and party games alike.
The game was originally unveiled two weeks ago with a teaser site and a trailer.

Popular singer to contribute three songs to the track list.
Pop star Taylor Swift will appear in the upcoming Band Hero, contributing three of her songs to its set list. "Picture to Burn" from her self-titled debut will appear, along with "Love Story" and "You Belong With Me" from her latest album Fearless. Fans can also visit the Band Hero website to enter to win the opportunity to see Swift in concert, and even meet her.

The MotionPlus title has managed to sell half a million units in only two weeks.
Nintendo has announced that the MotionPlus-enhanced title Wii Sports Resort has sold 500,000 copies since its July 26 release in North America.
Nintendo of America Vice President of Sales and Marketing Cammie Dunaway stated that this equates to one copy of the title being sold every 1.5 second since launch.

We Ski and Active Life crack the Top 5.
In a Q1 2010 earnings report, Namco Bandai has confirmed their top five selling titles. Among them are three Wii titles: We Ski, its sequel We Ski & Snowboard, and Active Life: Outdoor Challenge.
We Ski & Snowboard managed to sell 270,000 copies, followed by We Ski at 150,000 copies. Active Life: Outdoor Challenge sold 110,000 copies.

They have broken down all 12 events in the game, looking for glitches and cheats and establishing rules for official play. Nintendo's sequel is now listed in their database and score submissions are being accepted.

After a European release last month, NyxQuest will finally be available in North America next week.
Over the Top Games has confirmed through the game's official site that NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits will finally see its North American release next Monday.
The game was released in Europe on June 19 at 1000 Nintendo Points ($10) and is expected to be at the same price in North America.

A port of the insanely popular 2007 first-person shooter is coming to the Wii, in November courtesy of Treyarch. UPDATED with official press release.
Activision is going to bring Call of Duty 4 to the Wii, according to Kotaku.
Titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the port is being handled by Treyarch, who worked on last year's Call of Duty: World at War.
It is scheduled to hit stores on November 10, the same day as Modern Warfare 2 and the recently announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized for DS.

The portable juggernaut remains unstoppable in Japan.
Enterbrain has reported that the sales of the DSi have surpassed three million this past weekend.
As of August 2, DSi has sold a total of 3,062,920 units; cumulatively the DS has surpassed 27 million units sold in Japan alone.
The DSi most likely surged past this milestone thanks to the recent releases of the Dragon Quest IX and the red DSi.

For the third year in a row, the Call of Duty series will appear on the DS with a wealth of game modes and features courtesy of n-Space.
Activision has announced that the DS will see its own version of Modern Warfare named Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized.
The title will be developed exclusively for the DS by n-Space, known for their work on the GameCube shooter Geist and the past two Call of Duty DS games.
The DS version will see the features and weapons seen in the console version of the title, including the modern weaponry the series is known for.

Resident Evil 5 and Monster Hunter Tri are sales highlights.
Capcom recently reported on its fiscal first quarter results for the period ending June 30, 2009. Net Sales rose 19.2% to $205 million, Operating Income rose 23% to $38.7 million, and Ordinary Income rose 2.3% to $43.5 million.

Even with strong Wii software sales, Sega reported a net loss in the first quarter of their fiscal year.
Sega Sammy, the parent company of Sega, has reported a decline in sales and a net loss in the first quarter of the 2009 fiscal year ending in June. Sega's revenues totaled $638.44 million, a decline of 16 percent from last year. They also suffered a net loss of $108.66 million in the first quarter, slightly lower than the net loss of $111.19 million that the company reported a year prior.
