You can play while charging via the USB-C port.

The Nintendo Switch's battery life will range from between 2.5 to 6.5 hours. The wide stated range is apparently driven by the power needs of the game you're playing, as Nintendo made sure to state at the time.

Additionally, Nintendo announced that you can play the Switch while charging via the USB-C port using an included AC adapter. Other hardware details the company revealed were that the Nintendo Switch's screen was a capactive touch screen, and that the Nintendo Switch could connect over Wi-Fi and wirelessly to up to 8 local systems.

Somehow better and worse than expected.

2.5 hours is not good enough for a system that is supposed to be portable. And they didn't make the battery removable, so the only solution is a third party adapter (like smartphones that have non-removable batteries have)

Curious to see what the power cord will look like - if the port is on the bottom (as was implied and I assume is required based on how it sits in the dock), good luck having it plugged in at the same time as it's in kickstand mode.

Well at least with USB-C you can get an external battery pack and extend the battery life 2-3 times over.

This sounds in line with 3DS, with maybe a slightly higher high-end range.

Im ok with that battery life. I will be using it mostly docked, anyway

I'm definitely going to have to look into an external battery solution.
