It's time to enjoy Pikmin in suitably festive style - and hey, an old friend is here too!

The third volume of Mission Mode downloadable content for Pikmin 3, named the Fortress of Festivity, will arrive in the Wii U eShop on December 2.

Unlike volumes 1 and 2, this latest batch of DLC will feature eight entirely new stages and enemies as opposed to altered levels from the single-player campaign. The levels are set in numerous environments, including a beach, a construction site, a factory, and a house during a Christmas party, and will be split between four "Collect Treasure" missions and four "Battle Enemies" missions.

In addition, Pikmin 2 protagonist Louie will be playable in the game, working alongside Captain Olimar and the three Koppai astronauts. Although players will not be able to control him immediately, he will be added to the squad of explorers once he is found and rescued in a given level.

The Fortress of Festivity stages will be made available for purchase in North America and Europe early next month. A software update for Pikmin 3 will also be issued on December 2 in order to make the DLC compatible with the core game. Players who download this update will receive two of the new levels free of charge.
