Talkback

Are there any individual release dates for these?  What is available on DAY ONE?  The launch window goes to the end of fuckin' March?  Only in Nintendo's mind.  "Launch window" is like from launch to the end of the year at best.  I don't like how these companies all talk about the launch window because it's just a bullshit way to act like your launch has lots of games when it doesn't.  What will be in stores on November 18?  THAT is a launch title and nothing else.

leahsdadSeptember 13, 2012

Yup, this is the same crap they pulled with the 3DS launch, all over again.  That window ran from...March to June,  I think?

I also really want to know what the day 1 releases will be.  It's 8/9 weeks away, you would think that they would know by now.

You're not buying one on launch day anyways, so why do you care?  I'm guessing you don't plan to get one until after March 2013 at the earliest so all these 50+ games will be there when the system launches for you.  And probably a lot more depending on if/when you take the plunge.

Has this been confirmed as a Wii U game? I thought it was a Wii game only?

It's also on Nintendo's website, and it was in their sizzle reel.

@leahsdad: I know. But I am asking if this is a game that will incorporate the WiiU features somehow. Like HD graphics and Gamepad functionality. I recall when it was announced, Junction Point, the developer, stated it was developed for Wii, so, no HD, no Gamepad features. Wondering if that has changed.

Of course, it is technically a "Wii U" launch window game because it will play on the Wii U as well as the Wii. But that's sort of sneaky calling it a Wii U game when its really not.

Isn't there a PS3/360 version in the works, too? If so, just porting over the art assets from that version and tying in some Wii U features may be what the developer is doing.

Activision dropping their payload!

Yes, it's multiplatform.  I also know that the developer guy (forget his name) wants to release an HD upgrade of the first game.  I could see that coming to the Wii U as well at some point.

The name Funky Barn made me laugh.  ;D

powerclaw1September 13, 2012

There are only two first-party games available day one. They are Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U.

I can take half of it and i will be happy.

By the way calling this period "launch window" is stretching it really far. It's like half a year!

By the time that window will be over, the 2013 E3 will be upon us already. That's how long it is.

It's actually about 1/3 a year to be more literal. :)

Mr. Good CatSeptember 13, 2012

I'm not a fan of putting all these games in the category of "launch window" because it does seem like a stretch.  But the fact is that there's a decent amount of titles on that list that SHOULD be steadily getting released between November and March.  I think they learned from the 3DS launch and want to assure people that there will be games to play months after launch.

I mean if I got Nintendo Land, Mario U, and ZombiU on launch and still have The Wonderful 101, Lego City: Undercover, and Pikmin 3 to look forward to (among some others that have caught my interest) that seems like a good lineup of games for half a year.

Spak-SpangSeptember 13, 2012

Ian:

Honestly, 50 games by the end of March is incredible.  And no we don't know exactly when all those games will be released...but I will get you the publishers will want to release as close to system launch as possible.  Plus, the big publishers will want to get 2-3 games out there covering different genres and demographics.  That launch window is a pretty robust and fantastic lineup.  Now hopefully, Nintendo gamers will do there part and buy the big franchise games for the new Nintendo Wii U so that we will continue to get big franchise games.
