Users can get a free pack of cards as part of a promotion for the upcoming title.

Club Nintendo members can now participate in a promotion to recieve a free pack of AR Idol Cards from Kid Icarus: Uprising for the Nintendo 3DS.

The limited-time promotion (which will be running while supplies last) contains three cards: Great Reaper, Drill Arm, and Palutena (Rare). The cards can be used in AR battles or for display using the 3DS camera.

According to Club Nintendo, the cards will begin shipping within 6-8 weeks, following the launch of Kid Icarus on March 23.

Does it make the card RARE, if you're giving it out free to a lot of people?

Maybe that's the only way in the world to get it.

Considering no purchase of the actual game is required to get the cards, these will go quick. Those with the game but too late for these freebie could consider them rare.  :)

Are they available to order yet? I could not find them on the site anywhere.

Yeah, it was kinda dumb the way they did these.  Should have given them free when you registered the game (like the Zelda soundtrack...)

Don't you know since collectables have become big business...rarity is now manufactured.  It is the one thing I hate about the collectable business.  Be it Card games, toys, comic books, whatever....

Rarity is now just being created by the marketers and not by natural means.

Nintendo could secretly put these on eBay and fund themselves for the next year :-p

Maybe that's their plan to ensure they're in the black for the next fiscal year.

I couldn't find any reference to it on the Club Nintendo front page, but I got it using the link in the Source line.  Just sharing in case anyone else was lost like I was for a minute.

I ordered the AR cards, which pushed me over the edge in deciding to pre-order the game. Nintendo worked its marketing magic on me again.
