Make sure to enter the eShop to be able to take part in the program.

The deadline to apply for the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program is fast approaching. If you have not taken your 3DS online and gone into the eShop before 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on August 11, you will not be able to download the 20 free games when they become available.

There will be 10 NES games available on September 1, and 10 Game Boy Advance games available by the end of the year.

I had to tell a family member who had no idea of what the eShop was...

Spread the word people, the clock is ticking!

Come on ICE CLIMBERS!!.. I guess it's not so bad. Just as long as one of the free ones aren't Donkey Kong Jr Math.

Is there any way to confirm eligibility? I've visited the eShop a few times, but it's a little disconcerting to not have any sort of visible record of it.

If you go to the news section on the eShop there is an article that starts with "You are a Nintendo 3DS Ambassador!" But other than that and the spot pass notification that tells about the program, I don't think so.

I've had the same nagging doubts, but I've been on since the day the eShop opened and have purchased several things.  I should be good, or I'm going to take a flamethrower to that place!

I've told people to download Netflix or the Pokédex.  They're free and would help to prove eligibility should there be any question.

I've downloaded Pokédex 3D, ExciteBike 3D, and Netflix, so I should be good if there is an issue. Unfortunately, I have a bad feeling there will be, which is based on experience with Club Nintendo and how sometimes certain automatic registrations just don't work for whatever reason. Hopefully this will be handled better than Club Nintendo though.

Just to clarify, Nintendo said that the 10 NES games would be given out STARTING September 1. They did not say all 10 would be released on that day.

As eager as Nin is to keep early adopters happy, I think they'll get this as right as possible.  You've got rock-solid proof, including a survey you may or may not have taken for Excitebike at Club Nintendo.

As for me, I downloaded Excitebike and Nintendo Videos, and I bought Link's Awakening, Donkey Kong, Xevious and Picross, along with downloading all of the E3 videos.  I'm more tongue-in-cheek worried than anything else, though I wish they would attach an Ambassador title to me like they've attached a Platinum.

Dude, ya gotta get rid of the ad that pops up on the bottom.

SundoulosAugust 11, 2011

Woot!  Picked mine up at Target at the new price point today.  Happy to have registered in time!

It's too bad it will be a while before I can budget in enough to buy an actual 3DS game. :/  I did decide to purchase Donkey Kong, since I've heard so many good things about it.

Hmm... Well, I guess the Ambassador program did the trick. Nintendo, Netflix, and a friendly 30 day price protection policy convinced me that there is enough value at the moment to buy a 3DS - even though I'm counting on future releases to make the gaming worthwhile.

Thanks for the reminder that today was the last day. Otherwise I would've had to wait for a second price drop or killer pack-in to justify the purchase.

Edit: Here's hoping for a Monster Hunter 3DS release!
