Slighty different to the Japanese bundle, coming in October.

Nintendo have confirmed the release of a Super Mario 25th Anniversary red Wii bundle across Europe. It is similar to the pack planned for Japan, but with some changes.

The bundle includes a red Wii, a red Wii Remote Plus and red nunchuk, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and a digital copy of the original Donkey Kong game, pre-installed on the console.

The European launch date for this bundle is October 29, 2010. This is in advance of the Super Mario All-Stars Collection release on December 3.

In addition, the red 25th Anniversary DSi XL branded with character icons will be released with New Super Mario Bros. packed in on October 22.

That is pretty cool.
Alas, I am in Canada, and have a Wii already. Besides, it always costs way too much to get anything besides the basic colour of Nintendo consoles.

I'm getting that Wii! Can't wait until it's announced for the states!

What do you mean original Donkey Kong game?  Original as in the NES release or the arcade release?  I think I know the answer but I'd like to be wrong.

I will confess something. Even though I own a Wii I would so buy the Mario bundle if it ever comes out in the US. But it looks very unlikely. One sure sign that Nintendo will never launch something in the US is if they announce Japan first them Europe later.

Why Donkey Kong? This is the SMB anniversary, not the Donkey Kong anniversary.

I suppose they want to honor Mario's first appearance, but yeah, it should technically be Super Mario Bros. the one turning 25.

Like they announced the Black Wii bundle for Japan first then Europe later before the US got it? ;) We'll probably get it some time next year. Maybe spring or summer-ish.

Someone suggested on another forum that this sounds like it might be a Black Friday-type bundle (similar to the DS bundles Nintendo has released) this year.

I think that if North America gets this, it will simply be a red system and not any sort of Mario anniversary edition.

TJ SpykeOctober 13, 2010

Why exactly is Europe even getting this? They didn't even get the original Super Mario Bros. until 1987. And the choice of putting in Donkey Kong is odd. Hopefully they announce it soon for North America (but with SMB like in Japan).
