Details on the fully remade Final Fantasy III DS are revealed along with FFV and FFVI GBA announcements and—believe it or not—their Mario Basketball DS game.
Earlier today PGC posted a news article listing a large number of new DS games, as revealed by Famitsu Online. Since then Famitsu has posted more information about Square Enix's many titles for Nintendo handheld systems, which Nintendo and Square Enix disclosed in a press conference.
The Famitsu article shows Final Fantasy III DS director Hiromichi Tanaka disclosing his project as a 3D remake of the Famicom classic. The DS remake is a merging of old an new, with members who worked on the original Finaly Fantasy III team working alongside newer Final Fantasy juggernauts such as Ryosuke Aiba (FFXI art director) and Akihiko Yoshida (FFXII character designer). Be sure to check the Famitsu article for pictures!
Square Enix president Yoichi Wada also announced that Final Fantasy V and VI are in the pipeline for the GBA, though no date (or even year) was announced for the two remaining RPG classics. Also shocked his audience (nay, the world) by revealing Square Enix was behind the Mario 3-on-3 Basketball title revealed earlier today. The RPG maker, itching to try something that made dynamic use of the touch screen, proposed the concept to Nintendo.
