Nintendo has long claimed girls make up a large percentage of its handheld market. Today, NOE’s Spanish division posted a press release revealing its plans to further tap into the female market. It seems NOE is especially confident of the market potential in Spain, and aims to prove its point with Game Boy Advance SP, dubbed the GBA SP GE.

Oh look, another wildly popular and successful videogame brand is about to be horribly ruined by Hollywood!

Anthem Pictures (a Sony Pictures unit) and producer Warren Zide have acquired the rights to create a feature film based on Namco's Soul Calibur game franchise. Zide will be producing the film along with Craig Perry, reuniting the team that brought the American Pie and Final Destination movies to theaters.

Apparently, the Nintendo DS can play back movies. Don't get too excited about it, though.

It looks like America might get their own retro-styled GBA SP soon.

According to Game Informer Online, Nintendo just might be planning to release a new Game Boy Advance SP system designed to look like the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System. The system will probably be released this summer, in a move similar to the Japanese launch of the Famicom styled Game Boy Advance SP. The inner part of this NES GBA SP will be designed to look like the original NES controller.

Konami Japan has re-launch the official website for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Also, check out the first commercial for the game.

With the Japanese and US releases of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes quickly approaching, Konami has decided it's time to take the wraps off the game's final website.

The new site supports a complete redesign and a new tagline "MGS that surpasses MGS." Although it's been re-launched, the entire website has not yet been completely updated. Some areas, such as the Mission Records still have their content "coming soon."

Nintendo's president speaks out on how the DS will communicate.

Mainichi Interactive has just posted an interview with Nintendo's president, Satoru Iwata. In the interview, which was conducted before Nintendo had officially announced the DS, Iwata speaks about the forthcoming handheld system.

Konami of America has launched a new flash based website for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. For those who haven't played the original or who haven't been keeping up with the latest previews, you can check out the site for a brief description of the game, a quick history of the Metal Gear universe up until the events of The Twin Snakes, character profiles, and download the game's previously released trailer movies.

Team XLink prepares to transfer users to the next iteration of its tunneling software, which includes GameCube support.

Warp Pipe isn’t the only GameCube tunneling software reinventing itself. As you may remember from our exclusive interview back in November, Europe-based Team XLink is providing its own GameCube (and Xbox) tunneling software, named XLink Messenger, which will let GameCube owners play LAN-enabled games online.

All in all, not a bad night for Nintendo!

The British Academy of Film & Television Arts was established in 1946, and is the UK's leading organisation for honouring the very best in film, television, and interactive media.

With this in mind, on Wednesday February 25th the Academy held its first ever BAFTA Games Awards. Focusing purely on the games industry, it turned out to be a good night for both Nintendo and a handful of other related GameCube/GBA publishers.

The Warp Pipe Project upgrades to something more like a warp whistle.

We all know about Nintendo's reluctance to offer a service for online games in the same way that Microsoft does with Xbox Live.
