The iconic brain doctor from Brain Age hasn't pocketed any royalties from the games that bear his research and forbids his children from playing video games on the weekdays.
Dr. Ryuta Kawashima's polygonal disembodied head is front and center in Nintendo's best-selling Brain Training video games, encouraging players to do better in mentally stimulating math and logic exercises. But the brain researcher's opinion on the value of gaming sounds more like that of a concerned parent than that of a video game icon.

The message reads as follows.

20 million Wiis worldwide. 64 million for the DS. Oodles and oodles of money. And Nintendo is still developing their oft-delayed console Kirby game.
Last week Nintendo released financial data about their fiscal third quarter performance. While there is still some time to go before Nintendo's full fiscal year is over on March 31st, the all-important holiday season has passed, and there's already plenty of juicy information for industry observers to peruse.

The week that had two Marios and two Sonics at the Olympic Games.
The DS version of the mascot-based Olympics game made a bold entry this week. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games almost reached the colossal weekly sales of Wii Fit.
Wii Sports is also inching its way towards the three million mark, which indicates that a large proportion of the estimated 3.7 million Wii owners in Japan have a copy.

Fantasy Zone and Fist of the North Star will arrive in Japan in February.
With the announcement of two Sega Master System games planned for February in Japan, Nintendo's Virtual Console service for the Nintendo Wii has picked up another classic system. These games will be Fantasy Zone, a shooter, and Hokuto no Ken, a Fist of the North Star action game localized in America as Black Belt. They are slated to cost 500 and 600 Wii Points respectively.

New figures illustrate Nintendo's rapidly improving position in historically difficult market: dominant hardware sales complemented by strong showings for casual and traditional games.
Nintendo Europe has divulged sales figures spotlighting the company's very strong performance across both of its platforms. Six million Wii consoles have been sold since launch, surpassing the GameCube's lifetime sales by a significant margin in some countries, setting records in the process. Nintendo DS has also radically expanded Nintendo's handheld market, racking up twenty million units sold since its launch in March 2005.
