Nintendo talks about '3DSWare', 3D Classics, transferring DSiWare games onto the 3DS.
Charlie Scibetta, Nintendo's senior director of corporate communications talked to Joystiq about the new 3DS eShop. The 3DS eShop is an online marketplace where 3DS owners can purchase and download games. Scibetta revealed to Joystiq that most of the DSiWare library will be available from the launch of the new eShop.

Miyamoto explains to Iwata why he thought the original Zelda wasn't that unique.
In the latest entry of Nintendo's Iwata Asks column, the Nintendo President sat down with lead designer and producer Shigeru Miyamoto regarding his games and the recently released in Japan 3DS.
When Iwata asks how he makes it so that his games are the opposite of bland, Miyamoto explains that it is a misconception as he thought the original Legend of Zelda game for the NES was bland.

Nintendo producer name drops in a discussion of overseas collaborations.
During the Donkey Kong Country Returns panel at GDC, Nintendo Producer Kensuke Tanabe casually revealed that PilotWings Resort on Nintendo 3DS was developed by Monster Games.
Monster Games previously revived the Excite series with ExciteTruck and ExciteBots.

Sega reveals the first five handheld games to launch on the service.
Sega has announced the upcoming lineup of Game Gear games that will be available in Japan for the 3DS Virtual Console service. The titles listed are Sonic and Tales 2 (known as Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble in the West), Sonic Drift 2, Shinobi, Dragon Crystal: Shirani's Maze, and Columns. As of right now, there is no specific release date for the titles.

Nintendo's first party 3DS titles perform well at the system's launch.
The sales numbers of the 3DS's Japanese launch titles have been revealed, courtesy of Media Create. Overall, six titles appeared on the list of the top 20 best-selling titles.
The best-selling title during the launch was Level 5's Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle, which sold 119,591 copies, placing it at number three on the charts behind Phantasy Star Portable 2 for the PSP and SD Gundam G Generation: World, also for the PSP.

The Zelda remake will be with us this summer.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D will be released in North America in June 2011. The game and the release month were mentioned in Nintendo's GDC keynote earlier today.

Short entertainment videos will be viewable by 3DS owners.
A short-form video service, in the style of the previously announced SpotPass, will be available in late May when a system update will be available for the Nintendo 3DS.
The service acts much like a portable Nintendo Channel and will bring
exclusive content to 3DS with Nintendo-moderated selections such as comedy clips
and music videos.

As part of his GDC keynote address, Satoru Iwata announced the new game is being designed to "take full advantage" of the system's 3D display.
During his Game Developer's Conference keynote address today, Satoru Iwata announced that Nintendo EAD Tokyo, developers of the Super Mario Galaxy games, are currently working on a new Super Mario title for Nintendo 3DS.

Wi-Fi access will be available across the US.
Following a system update in late May, over 10,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots will be accessible to Nintendo 3DS owners nationwide across the US.
Players will be able to access Wi-Fi features for SpotPass content delivery and eShop connectivity in restaurants, book stores, airports, and more.

Nintendo also announced the 3DS would have a 3D movie trailer service, a short-form 3D video channel, and 3D video recording.
Nintendo announced a partnership with Netflix to bring content to the Nintendo 3DS this summer. Netflix members will be able to resume videos from other devices such as the Wii. Viewing will be in 2D.
In terms of 3D content, movie trailers will be viewable following the May system update.

Nintendo offers functionality fixes and a 3D video with the first Nintendo 3DS update.
Nintendo of Japan has issued the first 3DS firmware update. The update includes improved system stability, an update to Street Pass which extends the data received notification feature and improved network connectivity. Nintendo has also added a 3D video featuring the Super Mario Bros theme song as performed at Nintendo World 2011.

Many people wondered as to why Nintendo decided to release Pokémon Black and Pokémon White on the Nintendo DS as opposed to the Nintendo 3DS. Will Super Meat Boy finally grace a Nintendo platform?
Team Meat announced via their Twitter page that they are signed up as Nintendo 3DS developers. Although they did not specifically state that they would be developing any games, let alone Super Meat Boy, for Nintendo 3DS, one can speculate that they might be interested in bringing their only product to date to the new handheld.

Tecmo Koei are bringing Samurai Warriors: Chronicles Down Under later this month.
Samurai Warriors: Chronicles has been confirmed for a release Down Under alongside of the Nintendo 3DS on March 31, thanks to Twitter and various retail listings.
Samurai Warriors: Chronicles has already been announced as a launch title in both North America and Europe, but the game had no specific release date in Australia until today.

The new handheld will not be using Opera's browser as the Nintendo DS did.
Access, a company who develops embedded software, will be providing a version of the NetFront browser for the Nintendo 3DS. The Internet browser will be available for download through a software update in May.
The Internet browser is currently in use in over one billion devices including mobile phones. Notable versions are those produced for Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

Nintendo hires new Corporate VP for Corporate Affairs.
Nintendo of America recently announced that public relations veteran Cynthia Gordon, will be the new Vice President of Corporate Affairs. She will take over the position on March 14, and brings twenty years of experience working with consumer brands.
She replaces Denise Kaigler, who left the company in November 2009, after working with Nintendo for only two years. She left to work as Chief Marketing Officer for 38 Studios.
