Ashida talks about Nintendo's only guideline being that the console had to be low-cost and that they eventually settled on the idea of a small cube. They also decided to go with purple after studying European/US color preferences.

The company behind GameShark wants you to play Pikmin in the car and on the crapper. Details and a picture inside. Updated with color info!

Today InterAct announced its Mobile Monitor 5.4 and companion battery pack (each will be sold separately) for GameCube. Used together, these two products make the GameCube almost as portable as the Game Boy Advance...you just can't shove it into your pocket. Jordan on GameCube GC

He's heading back to the NBA, and pretty soon he'll be heading to your GameCube.

Today Sega of America confirmed that Michael Jordan will be included in NBA 2k2 for GameCube (as well as other systems).

Jordan recently announced that he will return to the NBA for two seasons with the Washington Wizards. We should note that he will also be playable in EA's NBA Street on GameCube, which was announced some time ago.

NCL is planning on releasing some new in-store demos at various Japanese stores.

According to GC Inside, Nintendo is planning on releasing a new demo of Pikmin to Japanese stores.

Although it seems to be pure speculation at this point, the article also makes note of the possibility of packaging the demo with a magazine for distribution to the public.

Logitech to Begin Making Console Peripherals GC

Logitech is bringing their brand of peripherals to the console arena.

According to a Yahoo! Finance article, Logitech, in a move to expand beyond the PC market, released a line-up of peripherals for Sony's PlayStation 2.

The article also points out that although nothing has been announced for either Microsoft's XBox or Nintendo's GameCube, there is no exclusivity contract binding them to make their peripherals solely for the Sony console.

Nintendo has a few cards up their sleeve, but they haven't been revealed yet.

According to Nintendo Benelux, Nintendo is currently working on 25 titles that have yet to be announced for the GameCube. The biggest news of all is that Nintendo is working on a "very special pokemon game" as well as a "special racer." Nothing is known about these titles at all. Some people have speculated that maybe the titles are playable over the internet.

Mario Kart Challenge hits Germany! GBA

If you live in Germany, you'll definitely want to hear about this.

German readers will be pleased to hear that Nintendo are holding the Mario Kart Super Circuit: Challenge 2001 to find the fastest GBA racer in Germany. Nintendo Flagship stores in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich will be hosting the qualifiers on their own play terminals.

Together with Adacdrive, there will be a contest for entry to the challenge and a Nintendo Play Pack of a Game Boy Advance console and copy of Mario Kart Super Circuit.
