TheSpeedGamers will play through each game in the Mother/Earthbound franchise live on May 15.
Following past Pokémon and Zelda charity marathons, TheSpeedGamers tenth marathon (and seventh for charity) will focus on the Mother/Earthbound franchise and raise money for the Susan G Komen foundation (Breast Cancer).
On May 15 at 6 p.m. CST and ending 72 hours later, TheSpeedGamers will begin to play through Mother 1, Mother 2 (Earthbound), and Mother 3 live on webcam, which will be watchable at their website.

The creators of The Conduit, High Voltage Software are working on bringing the famed Japanese character to Wii.
High Voltage Software along with publisher D3 announced earlier this week that they are working on a new game based on the upcoming CG film, Astro Boy for Wii.
While the team at High Voltage Software handles the Wii version, Art Co. will be handling the DS version. The game will be released in October to coincide with the release of the film. A Playstation 2 and PSP version will also be released.

Nintendo has described their strategy as "putting smiles on many people's faces." As their recent earnings report shows, this makes for great business.
With the currently poor state of the global economy, it's rare enough to find beacons of growth and optimism. Even in the videogame industry, generally considered "recession-proof," there have been reports of belt-tightening and layoffs. Nintendo, though, has a long history of rebelling against convention.

Nintendo rates highly in survey which ranks how beloved companies are by the public.
Nintendo has long been respected and admired by its fans, but it appears that the public at large is beginning to hold the company in high esteem as well. During the months of January and February, the Reputation Institute conducted their Global Reputation Pulse 2009 survey, which placed Nintendo as the sixth most reputable company in the world.

Though the system is selling well, game sales remain low.
The Wii is a definite success in South Korea thanks to its appeal and ease of use. Despite some initial doubt, since the Wii debuted in South Korea last year it has sold over 500,000 units. Wii Sports has yet again proven to be the biggest game for Wii fans with sales of the sports title at 210,000 units. Mario Kart Wii, Mario Party 8, and Super Paper Mario are also favorites.

Wii remakes of Klonoa and Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat headline the latest week of releases.
Wiimake is the operative word this week as the two biggest profile releases are Bandai Namco's Klonoa, which is a remake of their 1998 PlayStation game, and Nintendo's New Play Control! Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, which is a remake of their 2005 bongo-featuring GameCube game.
This week also sees the release of Majesco's Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian for Wii and DS, 505 Games' Wii-exclusive The Destiny of Zorro, and more.

The second game in the Pokémon franchise is finally getting the Fire Red/Leaf Green treatment.
During last week's Pokémon Sunday, a Japanese television show devoted to coverage of the Pokémon brand, the show ended with a note that the episode scheduled to air the next week, May 10, would have a major announcement. It was strongly hinted that the announcement would be DS remakes of Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver.

Only a few days after announcing that they would be publishing the title, Warner Bros. Interactive has released the debut trailer for their upcoming DS title Scribblenauts. The innovative gameplay is showcased, along with how puzzle-solving is handled with a few movements of the stylus.
Scribblenauts is scheduled to come out in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Sega confirms on their forums that their tennis game will be slightly delayed.
Recently on Sega of America's Community Forums, an assistant community manager confirmed that Virtua Tennis 2009 will be slightly delayed.
"I believe the focus is on polishing up the Wii version, so I'm down for that as it means a better game in the end," said the community manager, who goes by the name of RubyEclipse in the forums. "If I hear and can pass on the exact reasons, I'll let you know."

Nintendo console owners in PAL territories will have to wait until later this year to enjoy the new Ghostbusters videogame.
It was revealed today that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe will have exclusive rights to publish Ghostbusters: The Video Game on its original release date of June 19 in Europe and Australia. MCV confirmed that Atari stills plans on publishing the Wii and DS iterations of Ghostbusters in the PAL regions, but that they will unfortunately not arrive until a later, yet to be announced, date.
