Square Enix has filed trademarks for Dragon Quest IX that reveal the English subtitle to be Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies.
The Japanese subtitle, Hoshizora no Mamoribito, had previously been translated to Defenders of the Starry Sky.

The Australian ratings board spills the beans.
Q-Games, the developer behind Star Fox Command and Digidrive, is teaming up with Nintendo for an unannounced game titled Starship Patrol, according to Australia's video game rating board. The game was listed with Q-Games as the developer. No platform was revealed for the game.

Galactrix's annoying load screens will not be making an encore appearance.
One of the biggest issues with the last entry in the Puzzle Quest series, Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, was its 4-5 second load times when switching between the inventory and map - even on the cartridge-based Nintendo DS. Thankfully, Infinite Interactive, the developers of the upcoming Puzzle Quest 2, confirmed to Kotaku that these load times are a thing of the past.

Two Japanese companies are facing hard times thanks to a decline in the number of consoles being made.
Japanese news outlet Nikkei is reporting that Nintendo has begun to scale back the number of Wii consoles being assembled.
This news is apparently based on heavy losses reported by Mitsumi and Hosiden, two Japanese companies involved in Wii manufacturing. Both of them are facing a 50 percent drop in net profit, a shortfall blamed on the console's "declining fortunes" and a decrease in orders for more systems from Nintendo.

For the first time, the Japanese series will see a U.S. release.
Nintendo announced today that Glory of Heracles, a DS role-playing game, is coming to North America on January 18.
The game, which was at E3 2009, is the fifth game in the series, but the first to come out to the west. It originally came out in Japan in 2008.

Old and new fans can experience Sonic's first four Genesis adventures on Nintendo's portable next year.

The sequel will be coming to Nintendo DS in 2010.
Puzzle Quest 2, the sequel to the 2007 multiplatform hit Puzzle Quest, has been officially announced by D3Publisher. It is being developed by Infinite Interactive.
GamePro originally broke the news of its existence, but did not reveal the game's release platform. We now know that its initial handheld incarnation will be coming to the Nintendo DS.

Both the Wii and DS saw impressive sales in North America.
According to internal tracking numbers at Nintendo, the company sold more than 1.5 million Wii, DS and DSi units during the busy Thanksgiving shopping weekend. Additional sales data confirms that more than 550,000 Wii consoles were sold. More than 1 million DS units were sold, surpassing Game Boy Advance sales from 2002.

An emulation-filled advertisement for the N900 smartphone may earn Nokia a court date.
Nintendo is investigating a possible lawsuit against cell phone manufacturer Nokia. An advertisement for the N900 smartphone on a Nokia video blog demonstrated how easily the phone could handle NES, SNES and Game Boy Advance emulation. The video stated "There's already a bunch of great retro gaming emulator apps available for you to download" while showing video of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World playing on the handheld.

The King of Fighters 95 and Metal Gear also arrive just in time for the holidays.
Nintendo has announced the games that will hit the Japanese Virtual Console service in December.
Among them are Final Fight Tough (known as Final Fight 3) for the Super NES, The King of Fighters 95 for the Neo Geo, and Metal Gear for the MSX. The King of Fighters 95, along with Ordyne and Rombers (both for Virtual Console Arcade), will hit the service on December 1.

A recent survey reveals interesting information regarding the recently released DSi model.
According to a survey conducted by Japanese group Orimo, purchase intent for the DSi LL is high among 30 and 40 year old consumers.
Out of 416 consumers that participated in the survey, 28.3 percent of males in their 30s and 24.5 percent of females in their 30s had intentions of purchasing the handheld. The highest number, however, came from consumers in their 40s; 31.7 percent were interested in purchasing the DSi LL.

The upcoming Final Fantasy game has a new feature you might be interested in.
Inside Games is reporting on a new feature in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. Players will apparently be able to save screenshots to their Wii's SD Card.
The screenshot functionality allows for shots to be taken at any point in the game, whether it's during gameplay or during a cutscene. The shots also get stamped with Square Enix copyright information in their bottom-right corners.

Boom Blox sequel sees an avalanche of new free content.
Electronic Arts has released 139 new online levels for Boom Blox Bash Party. The levels are created by EA themselves, and are available for download at no charge.
