TOS Commercial

Anyone here seen a commercial for the game that's currently taking up a huge chunk of my time? Just curious if Namco is pushing any TV ads for the game (not that it really needs it, it's sold out everywhere near where I live)

I have not seen a single advertisement...

The game is SO great and legendary that I think that it will become another game that kicks serious amounts of @ss, but no one will notice.

Namco decided not to have commercials for ToS for some reason...But it seems to be doing well even without them, so I really can't question Namco that much...

I've seen tons of print ads, and also on other gamer sites. Stange though they opted out on TV ads for this one, but its not like this game came out of nowhere...

Jale sounded like they advertise it in the UK already (maybe they do it in Germany, too, I don't watch TV so I don't know). Maybe someone typoed in an important form? Though a K and an S aren't that hard to tell apart...

Namco doesn't seem to do a lot of TV advertising in general, though.  I don't think I've seen any Namco ads on TV, as a matter of fact...
I think the game is doing extremely well anyway.  Or else there's a serious shortage here in Canada, because the game is very hard to find.

I wouldn't know, I've been too busy playing ToS to notice.  And I don't remember if I saw any Soul Calibur II comercials either, or Xenosaga Episode 1 commercials either ;__;

ToS is listed in backorder at just about everywhere I look online.  I hope that is because the game is selling very well and not just because Namco underestimated how many people wanted the game.

I've seen TV ads for Xenosaga, Tekken 4, Dead to Rights, and Soul Calibur 2 plus there some Ridge Racer V and Tekken Tag Tournament footage in PS2 launch ads.  ToS is Namco's first really major game this gen that I haven't seen some TV advertising for.

Yeah I find the absence of ToS commercials kind of odd when contrasted to the frequency Soul Calibur commercials.  However I only saw one GCN specific SC2 commercial once, so it isn't that weird.
I actually didn't realize how rare ToS was as my Best Buy perpetually has five copies.

I can't think of a reason as to why Namco didn't put television ads out for ToS.  The series hasn't been around for a while and needs an "awakening" with the current gaming audience, not to mention that it is a huge release in a starved genre.

There were 2 commercials done here in the US for Soul Calibur 2.  One done by Nintendo, one done by Namco.  The Nintendo one is what most saw which was similar to the JPN one, with the life meter acting as a sword in the beginning.  The Namco one I didn't start seeing till well after the game had released.  It starred a guy with an Austrailian accent  trying to sell Link a "better" sword.

"I've seen TV ads for Xenosaga"

That's what sucks about the no-ad thing.  They fronted money for that garbage, but not ToS?

I forgot about Soul Calibur II and Dead to Rights!  *eats hat*  Still, I don't think Namco sees this as a big North American release like we do.  For some reason Japanese developers still haven't caught on that RPGs have become really popular in North America.  It's crappy because it seems like the games that get big advertising budgets are big sequels that are pretty much destined to do well.  Then everyone is all offended and shocked when games like Beyond Good and Evil do poorly.

Or games that publishers know are crap and need to advertise the hell out of in hopes that is all they people will see of the game and not pay any attention to reviews.

I will pretend that you didn't say that.  I actually really enjoyed Xenosaga and already preordered my copy of Episode 2.

I remember now seeing a commerical for Soul Calibur II, the one I saw was the first one Berto mentioned, witht he life bar as a weapon.

Hey that's cool.  It's great that it is coming out over here in Region 1.  What rating did the MPAA give it?
