A note about hobbies.

Everybody has one.  Some people make trailers for their favorite games.

I am very similar in that regard, but I rather make cool teasers for games I wish they would remake and stuff.

I wanna do requests, but 2 conditions.

1. Has to be something relatively obscure.  I don't want to see Mario and stuff beeing suggested.
2. First, you gotta guess the games these 2 images are for.   Otherwise it wouldn't be very fun, heh.

Is the first picture Star Tropics perhaps? That's the first thing that came to mind.

And I'm gonna take a wild guess at the second one- Radiant Silvergun? I'm probably wrong.

Yep, Star Tropics.  It took me forever to find a picture of an island that looked like that.

Too easy.

The first one is Startropics, and yes, a remake/rebirth of it would be awesome. I always thought it was a great idea. Use the great Zelda engine to make a great series with an Island (and alien) feel, instead of just that great "fantasy" feel every time. I don't know why Nintendo isn't doing it. It's a reasonably sure-fire success for a minimal investment.

The second one is Area 88, a shooter (from the SNES/Arcades) known in the US under the very politically-correct name of "UN Squadron". I've got a stack of the comics/manga the game was based on,  which were put out in English by Viz in their early days. The mercenary-combat themes, if handled right, could really add something fresh-yet-expected to the flight-sim genre, and the entire genre seems wide open for a new entry since Namco's powerhouse Ace Combat series appears to have fallen flat on it's face with the PS2. Although, why Treasure? The first one was made by Capcom. Are you hoping for another side-scroller? That's probably too much to even hope for.

Hmmm.... something obscure huh? How about Popful Mail? That one really had some potential.

OFCOURSE, U.N. SQUADRON, that's one of my favorite games of all time (I have it on Amiga 500 and SNES), the Treasure part threw me off ;__;

I finished M_C's request.  Mappyland was a bit tough, but Popful Mail is gonna take a little bit.  So obsucre, barely anybody knows about it, even myself.

Ah, cool idea.

The name Star Tropics sounds familiar.  What was the game about, and what system was it for, and all that?  I may have played it, and I may have liked it.

Okay, I just checked it out, and no wonder it sounds familiar.  I owned the freaking game and, for what I could actually beat on it, I loved it.  I may have had the second one, though.  Not sure.  I'd totally forgotten about it. . .

I have trouble thinking of ultra obscure games, but how about something like Kid Icarus?  Or Ice Climbers? (Whichever gives you a better idea).

I thought image 1 reminded me of a map in Total Annihilation...

A game that'd need a sequel would be Giana Sisters (think Super Mario Bros. 1 (different levels, of course), harder, with more powerups and girls as the lead characters, Armin Gessert took the rights wit him to Spellbound, but Factor 5 has the other 2/3rds of the dev team). I played that game pretty often, almost as much as Katakis. I think Nintendo managed to stop Giana Sisters, though...

One Must Fall: 2097 was awesome, too. It has a sequel (OMF: Battlegrounds, multiplayer fighter for up to 16 participants), but that turned out pretty bad. It lacked what made the original so great. I haven't seen one other fighting game where the combatants had a short dialogue before each battle (one dialogue for each possible character comination, plus smack talk for the tournament pilots...), the tournament mode was never seen again, either.

BTW, let's hope they port Tsuki Hime Melty Blood to the cube and release it over here (chance? Approximtely zero. Maybe on the PS2). It's an indy game based on a popular dating sim and got ported to the arcades. If you wonder, the genre is 2d fighter and it's said to have a very deep fighting system. Hell, Nintendo should grab a few games from the japanese indie scene, they produce awesome games that rival commercial products in their production values (including graphics, at least on the 2d ones) and include gameplay mechanics by veterans for veterans.

Popful Mail is still taking me a little bit, but I have another mystery treat.  IT's a little bit smaller, but that's ok.  Normally I do these for games I like.  I'm doing this one for a game I loathe.  Have Fun guessing.

Alright, since I knew absolutely zero about Popful Mail to begin with and only had fansites, screenshots, and reader reviews to get material ideas from, I think this is the best I can come up with...

I don't know anything about Popful Mail, either, but that's one awesome looking piece of work, Deguello. I especially like how the letters are offset, very nice touch.

Popful Mail is really good, Deguello.  Mouse_clicker was right about the letters, too.  Nice touch, and it does not go unnoticed.

Kid Icarus - I'm tempted.  I really am.  But I have the same idea as that other fake Kid Icarus teaser that's floating around out there.  A single feather against a white background.  I'll think about it some more.

Giana Sisters-  I'll pass on this one too, sorry.

One Must Fall- Now here's an interesting one, but I must realize my limits.  I don't know if I can DO One Must Fall.  I'll think about it some more.

The Dating Sim Fighter-  Hahah Alright... But isn't it enough of a fan creation without my help?  Heh.

Hm, that building "don't hit your head" thing was some game about climbing highrises? I forgot the name (I was very young when I played it) but I played it on the C64. You had to avoid falling potted plants and stuff. I heard it was a prety popular arcade game, too.

Nope.  Not a thing about climbing.  What happens in that picture is what happens when you defeat your opponent in the game in question.  And it all falls on top of you, the supposed victor.  It may LOOK like confetti, but I believe it is, in fact, garbage.
