I always assumed that Mithos just THOUGHT tabatha was a failed experiment...perhaps the woman that fused with Tabatha (I don't think it was actually Martel, I remember her saying something that she was more than just one being) could join with whomever she wished, and Mithos was incorrect.

Before the Kratos/Zelos discussion bursts, I'd like to say pick Kratos. Zelos might be a pimp and get you items, but Kratos's Judgement pwns and let's say he's more than just a mercenary. While Zelos, how shall I say it gently, likes to play... with daggers!!!

I think it's obvious that Kratos is the better of the two, which is also why it is harder to get him towards the end...

[BGriffin, to answer your first question, the scene cuts off right before he says it.

He probably names it after the Linkite tree

Actually, the answer that would make the most sense to me would be if Lloyd named it Yggdrasill.

Now, why Yggdrasill?

If you're familiar with Norse mythology, which I vaguely was, but didn't figure this out until it was pointed out to me Yggdrasill is the name of the giant, life-giving tree in Norse mythology.  Another interesting fact is that the roots of Yggdrasill reach a city called Asgard, and one called Niflheim (which I believe is an optional dungeon in the game.  I don't know, being as I had no idea it existed.)

So, it seems there's a few aspects in the game alluding to Norse mythology, which I think is more interesting than Greek mythology.  Greek mythology doesn't have an apocolypse story (as far as I know), and I think valkyries are cool too.

Man, I'm such a dork.

But consider what Lloyd said right before he named the tree...He said something like, "This tree links the two worlds, right?  Then, I'll call it..."  It made sense to me, but I believe they left that open for the gamer to decide... ^_^

And you should remember that this is Lloyd who's naming the tree...There's no way he would have known this...So he would name the tree after something he knew about...

I also thought that he was going to Name the tree after Mithos
I'm glad they left it open to interpetation however, I'm curious how the worlds merged actually, I mean, theres a lot of stuff that had to be moved around, didn't seem like a single thing got damaged.

That said, this game easily has my vote for "most towns getting owned" that i've ever seen in a single RPG.  [/url]

I believe the worlds were kept the same, meaning that both worlds were kept separate...However, the Great Tree was the link between the two and would be able to keep both flourishing...

I found a bug in the game. At the first House of Guidance in Tethe'alla, there's a guy who will trade materials for Grade. If you select Metal Sphere, you'll pay the 8 Grade but get no Metal Sphere. You can get the other items he offers with no problems. Can anybody else confirm this?

The same exact thing happened to me Urkel.  I needed metal spheres to customize a whole bunch of weapons.  I figured it just didn't work for some reason.  I went back later in the game for another metal sphere, and it worked that time.  It was only the first time it didn't work for me.

For such a large game though, it's a very small glitch/bug.  There is a major inconvenient glitch that I've read about, concerning missing the fishing boat out of Izoold, but that's due to people's stupidity for the most part.

The boat thing I don't think that is a bug or glitch, but actually a second scenario, as you can just walk to Palmacosta by crossing a bridge in the north and heading east then south.

From what I've read on the GameFAQ's message board, if you miss the boat then you have to do the Mana Tower before the wind and water temples.  Meaning, the enemies suddenly get a bit tougher, and when you finally get to Palmacosta, everything in that area will be considerably easier.

Anyway, I'm about 64 hours into my game.  I've already beaten it, but now I'm going back for all the side quests.  But I have a question: in the Monster List, all of the monsters have a ? next to location.  Why is that?  I've used Magic Lens on all of them.  The only monster with a location is a bigfoot or something, and I don't even remember fighting it.

EDIT:  Nevermind.  I figured out that in order to get a monster's location, Raine must use the magic lens, or something like that.  I'm not sure.  The Katz monster expedition just tells you how many you haven't encountered.

I am not sure, but maybe using Katz to check for monsters in their area will fill that in.

[EDIT: somebody tell me wtf's wrong with my quote tag, huh? h8]

Really?  I just innocently went off exploring before taking a boat trip.  Maybe they should've blocked the path like they did with Hakesonia peak.  What I did was I went exploring and went to Hima.  Once I spoke with the first person there I was unable to take the boat from Izoold.  There was nothing there telling me to turn around or that I was doing things out of order.  The only clue that saved Bill was that the enemies in that area (the rooster guy, mainly) were considerably harder, but I just figured that I really sucked and needed more practice.

Long story short, I started the game over. -___-

But how was that due to my idiocy?

no offense taken

I just got the game and was wondering what the second disk is for...

I also am having trouble using the multiplayer mode.  My cousin was trying to play with me and I put her character for manual, but it still does not let her play.

The second disc holds the second part of the game...

About the multiplayer question...I believe the character you must put in manual must be the same in the lineup as the controller is setup...In easier terms: Example: Pretend your cousin wants to play as Genis

Lloyd  -> you
Kratos
Genis
Raine

In this lineup, you see that Genis is 3rd...Therefore, if your second controller is set in the second socket, you would only be able to control Kratos as well...To fix this, either put the controller in socket 3 or switch the lineup so Genis is 2nd in the lineup(by using Y)...

Oh I get it now.  So I would also have to do that if I wanted to be another character too? By switching one of the characters to switch with Lloyd?

Thanks Bill.

Sorry but I now have another question.  What exactly are GRADE points? And how do I get them?

GRADE is earned from your battles...The better you perform, the more grade you get...So if you take a lot of hits during battle, you'll receive less grade than if you didn't take any...Performing high combos will get you higher grade as well...Grade is used in two ways: 1) You can use it to buy exspheres from the Katz(the cute catpeople ^_^ (but this isn't recommended...You find PLENTY of exspheres later on in the game...save your grade) and 2) use it to buy upgrades that you can use on your second run through the game...I'll spare you the details so you'll find out yourself after you complete the game... ^_^

Ok, well now I'm stuck on the human ranch trying to save Chocolat.  Using the warp things, I managed to get to that platform in the middle and climbed up the spiral staircase that led to nothing.  I tried using the warps in different orders but could only get to the platform with the spiral staircase.  Was there a switch I missed?

It worked.  Thanks for all of your help, Bill.

Edit: Dang it, I have another question.  I have just been to the research center in Tethe'alla, and am trying to get to Ozdette for Presea.  Zelos said it was on the same Continent but he won't let me go into the woods and that seems like the only place I can go to on that continent.  Which way am I supposed to go if not through the woods?
