Square actually sends them to end users, AFAIK. The ones Nintendo issues aren't meant for end users. You could try asking them, but I doubt they'll give them out for home usage (after al they can get more exposure per disk if they put them up in kiosks). You could try scourging eBay or something, though.

If you want to get some good demo discs, get a job in retail at a store that sells games.  Whenever a nintendo rep comes in to replace the demo disc, they literally THROW OUT the old demo disc.  I got two of the last three discs from my job.  Nintendo reps are also a great source of free goodies... (ie Nintendo lanyards, pens, mario party fuzzy dice, and kirby date books =P )

"If you want to get some good demo discs, get a job in retail at a store that sells games."

Yeah because I should have to have a specific job to get my hands on Cube demo discs.  Nintendo should just release demo discs that EVERYONE can get a copy of.  None of this stupid store display only crap or making us buy a new Cube as if new Cube owners are the only ones interested.  It's like Nintendo has to do everything different.  "Oh Sony made demo discs popular so it MUST be a bad idea.  Our 'never let anyone play them' method is so much better."

Rumour has it Nintendo's going to release a Metroid Prime Cube bundle that comes with Metroid Prime and a demo for MP2.  How much you want to bet it will be nearly impossible for those of us who bought Metroid Prime when it was a new title, ie: the REAL fans, to get a copy of it.

But the fans are the ones who'll buy Metroid Prime 2 anyway...The point of demo disks is to gain new fans... =)

Bill you're thinking way too much like Nintendo.  My point is that no one wants to play the Metroid Prime 2 demo more than existing fans.  Sure including it with new system purchases may attract new buyers but it's rather cruel to not allow the people who are really looking forward to MP2 to not get a copy of the demo.  It's an issue of being user friendly.

Remember a few years back how popular the MGS2 demo that came with ZOE was?  How many of the people that rushed out to get that demo  had NOT played a Metal Gear game before?  There's huge fan interest in stuff like this.

I remember that a bad game sold because it was bundeled with an FF7 demo...

I think Nintendo doesn't realize the full potential of the disk medium yet (e.g. "they fit inside magazines!"). They're too conservative in that respect.

Full agreement with everything here, basically.  Four Swords would be a perfect demo game, because I'm sure a lot of people are skipping it becuase the graphics aren't that impressive.  And I have this friend who owns all three systems but barely buys anything for the Gamecube.  Is it because he doesn't like GameCube?  No, in fact he loves several of the games I own, but most of them aren't games that would have caught his attention - until he played them.  I'm sure Nintendo could sell Four Swords, Tales of Symphonia, Custom Robo and a few other games to this guy by simply giving him a demo disc with those games on it, but based strictly on graphics, he's only interested in Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime 2 and maybe the new Zelda.
That's my opinion, not yours.

My narrow-minded view of demo discs is they exist for me to capture and freely distribute video on the interweb.

Otherwise, we'll end up having to "hear" about new trailers and media that can only be accessed behind "walls of game publicity injustice" such as "IGN Insider."

Quality media (and demo discs) should be available to ALL, and quality media should be free.  It's inexpensive advertising for Nintendo's sake, but they got their heads stuck up Lakitu Clouds too often to realize these things more.

Vote for Daisy.
