e3 in trouble?
« on: June 24, 2004, 05:34:32 AM »
I heard that E3 may have a few less exibits next ie Atari and Rockstar are starting their own convention because thay are both sick and tired of all the flash, music, and girls thats what they feel that E3 is all about not show casing thier games and I must agree.

Good luck atari and Rockstar.  E3 is good because it creates a lot of hype in the mainstream press, which is good for the companies.  Personally I would like to see showcases a couple 3 or 4 times a year to let us know where they are at, like a return of Spaceworld and the like.  This once a year thing gets old because its so short and there is so much info to digest and its just stressful and crazy and im not even there just checking the web for info...

But E3 is a mainstream staple of showcasing new games and products, its the oscars of video games.  You can't just pull out, it doesn't make sense...

Hey both atari and rockstar have the power to stand on thier own. Especially since Atari is a subsidary of infogrammes which has all but abandoned that name for the Atari name plate. And dont ever say ATARI sucks they are the reason that we have game systems as advanced as the Xblox , PS2, and Gamecube. If not for Atari taking that leap from arcade to home entertainment  we would be stuck with what nothing!!

And the whole point of this post was that other companys are also getting sick and tired of this BS with the glitz and hype BS.

First, both of them suck.

Second, "Atari," as it is now, did nothing for game hardware, it is nothing more than a name now, nothing from the real Atari was really retained. Besides, I seem to remember Atari contributing to the gaming-market-crash. And I'm quite confident Nintendo and Sega would have made home consoles regardless of whether or not Atari ever existed.

Ya, Atari killed the game industry in the early 80s.  They still don't make much of anything worthwhile.  Fact is, if either of those 2 companies didn't go to E3, it wouldn't make much difference.  They aren't big enough to really host their own show that would make much press either.

Maybe Rockstar wants blood & hookers at their own convention.  And Atari wants to give away 10000000000000000 copies of the original Driver.
