Ok, I'm sorry. The original Zelda doesn't suck. I was just in a bad mood that night. Though I do hate the old man with all of my being!!

It's not a remake. There was an interview during E3 in which Aunoma was asked if it was, and he replied that it was a completely original game.

Yes, Wind Waker did kinda leave us in the dark. Here we are in this little OoT world, killin stuff, ridin on are beautiful little Epona, shootin light arrows, catchin little fairies, and then... IT'S GONE! IT'S ALL GONE! THE HORSE! THE... THE HORSE! IT'S GONE, PLUS MORE! I LIKED GOIN FISHIN! IT WASTED DAYTIME! AND NIGHTTIME! So here's this little Link wanna-be comin in takin all the fun outta killin stuff, sailing on this big ass ocean since HYRULE IS UNDERWATER. WTF? Underwater??? Then we just jam the Master Sword in Ganondorf's head, turn him to stone. Where's the Sword? OH GOD! THE HORROR! THE HORROR!

Yeah, I thought the story for Wind Waker was pretty lame.  Sure, it was a really fun game, but I liked the Link from OOT.  He was...better than cell shaded Link.  Did our Link just die?!  I know 100 years is a long time, but Link dead is just an outrage!  I know that I'm arguing with my own signature on the bottom, but Link needs to come back.  I hope this new Zelda game maked Wind Waker and Four Swords a dream or something because realistic Link is the real hero in this game series, not a little boy who loves magical yellow soup(No offense to the idea of making you stronger of course).  I still don't really get Wind Waker's storyline.  How could Link be dead, but Zelda be alive?  It's been awile since I last played it, but I think that's what King Hyrule said.  I just don't get it.  They need to clear something up in the next game.  Also, I heard that they were saving the next realistic Zelda for the next system, but thank God you're all saying that it's for the Gamecube...I don't know if I could wait until the next system, when will it be...2006 or something?

Screw the "realistic" hero BS.  That also practically denounces the Link to the Past Link, which is blasphemy since OoT owes a lot to its predecessor.

Ok, I think there is some confusion on how WW lines up.  The Link in WW is not the same Link as in OoT, same goes for Zelda.  Every time evil threatens the world, a hero is born to overcome it.  That doesnt mean every Link is related.  What happended to the Link from OoT, he probably enroled in therapy, saving the world is alot of stress on a kid.    In the game, it states that its been hundreds of years since OoT took place.  The timeline will never make sence, at best, a few games here and there will line up.

How many Zelda games have you played? From the sounds of it you've only played OoT and WW. There's about 10 Zelda games in total, and most of these have a different Link and Zelda in them. The OoT Link has only been in two games; OoT and MM.

Having an attachment to a specific Link is retarded too, since they're all about the same. The only real difference is the age and art style with which they are depicted. Link has never even had a personality to speak of in any of the games because you, the player, are supposed to be Link. Also Link has been a little kid in the majority of the Zelda games. In fact one of the reasons I fell in love with the first Zelda game was because the hero was a 10 year old kid. Being about 5 at the time, I thought I it was the greatest thing in the world that the hero wasn't some muscle bound adult. Out of those 10 games, the only ones to have an adult Link are Adventure of Link, OoT, and now the new game coming out. That's 3 out of a 11.

I dunno, Gibdo. I'm pretty attached to the new "sexy" Link myself. But yeah, I like WW's kid link better than every other one so far. Except maybe OniLink but that's just cause his pupils were all not there. ^_^

Actually, I still follow the rule that 18 is the age one becomes an adult...Following that, Link has never been an adult...His max age was 17 in OoT(And also likely in WW2)...(Link was 16 in LA)

Link is Link to me. The only preference I really have is with the kid Links. To me, the Zelda series has always been about living out childhood fantasies, which is why I feel that a kid Link fits better than an adult Link.  Adult Link is pretty cool too though.

My main problem with Forte's post is the stupid attitude noobs have that OoT is the first and only Zelda game. It's usually these types that only seem to care about the graphics and what age Link is.

I'm going to ditto Gibdo Master.  It's supposed to be about this kid who defeats the king of evil.  I don't prefer any style, they all seem fitting for the game.... as long as they stay away from any middle aged "Connan the Barbarian" Link

People also get way to hyped about "the different links" and "putting all the games together".

Bah, just use the current story line for the game and use your imagination each time....  Heck, I've wrapped multiple stories around the same game, it's just part of the fun of enjoying *that* game in the series.

All the arguments about this link, that link, this timeline, that timeline, blah, blah, blah

I don't think the Link in WW would be an adult yet.  I agree with Bill on they are an adult when they turn 18.  I like playing with the younger Links the best. The only reason why I played as the adult in OoT the most was because I enjoyed riding Epona.

I didn't mention WW though.

Bill is being overly technical about the term "adult" though, since people are just trying to separate the two age groups Link is usually in. I mean, you can call him teenage Link, older Link, or whatever you want too, but it basically means the same thing.

Of course I'm being overly technical, because the Legend of Zelda is my favorite series and I follow it to a t...

But I'd also like to add that I'm also more fond of the younger Links because a young lad saving the world is just much more fantastic than an older person saving the world...Plus it adds to a child's initial reactions to new environments whilst an adult wouldn't be as shocked by different things due to experience...(Funny though that my favorite Zelda is Link's Awakening... :\)

I really hope we get to have a realistic Zelda with young Link. From the sounds of it though, young Link is going to get the cel-shaded treatment while teenage Link will get the realistic treatment, which is unfortunate. All it's going to do is further pound it into people's heads that young Link is the crappy baby Link while teenage Link is the cool one.

I'm also worried we may not get to see young Link in any more games because of Miyamoto's comments about Link having to grow up. *cough*sell-out*cough*

Yeah, I'm worried about that too Gibdo. Adult Link is (super) fine and all that, but I like kid Link best. I think part of the reason that most people don't like Majora's Mask is that it was entirely young Link's adventure and they only got to see OniLink (if at all) at the end. These people, as you have mentioned, do not realize that up until OoT, Link has ALWAYS been a child. But there's not reasoning with some people.

I really like MM. I wish it had been longer, cellshaded, and on the Cube. Or just longer. All those masks....so much fun. ^_^ And I just found out the other day that MM is on the Zelda Collector's Edition disk! I should go play that. I need to beat Zeldas 1 and 2 first though. They're so HARD!

I digress so often...

Well if it eases off the pain a bit, Link is a kid in Minish Cap...

But I think Miyamoto meant Link has grown up for this game, not for good........Hopefully... ^_^;

I personally love the big link better, at least in OOT.  And it gets confusing when there are now two of them.  To me link has always been adult if you look at the old zelda comics in nintendo power and all the official art and so forth, it is just natural for a sword swinging hero be in his early 20's.

At least thats the way I feel.

Most of those comics based their art on AoL's in which Link was 16. In the first Zelda game, Link was supposed to be around 10, and this is about how old he is in most of the other games. In fact, he's never been older than like 17 in any of the games.

There's some confusion about how old Link was in ALttP due to how he was depicted in the art, but notice how Capcom used young Link's voice in the GBA port.

I think that this game is gonna be great but the reason that they set it with an older link in realistic graphics is to show sceptics that Zelda is still the top dawg in games.

I think they did the voice in the ports for consistancy not to illustrate age.

How old is he supposed to be in the oracle games, to me that is the big link from OOT am I right on that one?

I hope Nintendo didn't change the graphical style for the skeptics, thats all we need is them taking design cues from Xbox and PS2 fanboys that will never in a million years buy the next zelda game, that is unless the Revolution is backwards compatible...
