I don't like the fact Luigi's Mansion was the "face" of the GCN U.S. launch, and ended up being the #1 selling launch title.

Actually, Luigi's Mansion sold quite well- most likely only because it was the face of the launch, as Professional said, but it didn't sell poorly.

"Ian was saying that Nintendo's launch campaign was so bad that even though it was a decent game they couldn't sell it or hype it even though it had a mario character in it."

No I said that with a flagship launch title there's the assumption that the quality is really high and the game's going to last you for a long time.  See Halo for example which despite being a few years old is still regularly played.  Therefore the launch title has to deliver up to those expectations which Luigi's Mansion did not.  And if the big launch title doesn't deliver it gives the console a bad image.

Wait, if it was the #1 selling launch title then it should have been doing something right...

I played it for about two weeks and haven't touched it since... :\

Since when has there been a large launch(in terms of numbers of games) for any Nintendo console?  Never...

All I'm saying is that the second SSB:M was out the door, Luigi's Mansion's status must have changed.

SNES.  Super Mario World, F-Zero, Pilotwings, Sim City, Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, Act Raiser, Gradius III, etc.  I think Final Fantasy II was even a launch title or at least was close enough.  The amount of great games released for that console in 1991 was insane.

And the amount of great titles isn't significant.  What's important is that the flagship title be a system seller.  As well as Luigi's Mansion sold, few thought it was worth owning a Cube for and it failed to keep up interest for the six month game drought that followed.  Nintendo should have launched the Cube with Super Mario Sunshine.

Let's put it this way, when people who just bought a Cube ask what game they should get does anyone suggest Luigi's Mansion?

I played Luigi's Mansion for 2 days.  Haven't played it since.

It's not something I would've recommended as a US$50 purchase at launch.

Mario Sunshine, I'd agree with.

I think luigis mansion was a good game not great but either was sunshine, it was just who was starring in it.well getting back on the subject here. That would be cool if peach starred in a stealth game.  It would seem out of place at first but then it would be pretty cool.  Though i cant see peach holding one guy around the next with a knife to his throat while facing other villians.  If it is more of a stealthy game which i doubt it is ninty will think of something.

::cough:: *Back on topic*

IGN has a few images that apparently go with the patents, and I'm almost certian now that this is just an 'Eye Toy' type of device.

Not sure what the linking rules are, but the article is titled "Nintendo Plans Stuff" on IGN...

-Shecky

Who is also almost certian that the next post will be on luigi's mansion

It would make sense that it's an eyetoy type device because Miyamoto spoke as if that was the only piece of Sony equipment that has ever impressed him.

A camera peripheral would be cool, it'd be even cooler if it connects onto DS as well, so after GCN is gone, we can still use it for DS! Portable camera!
