Bill: Calm down, man, I wasn't trying to attack your case. I just thought pointing out that Kirby's Air Ride was a full 3D game would have helped the conversation.

Syl_Aran: I wasn't saying that Shining Soul 1 and 2 were the remakes of Shining Force 1 and 2, just that they're based around the same license and are on the GBA in addition to the remakes.

Hehe, I saw that!

Ruin Explorers was an RPG-ish anime, I believe, but I don't recall it being made into a game...

awesome, I didn't think there was a chance that there would be sequel because of the poor sales but I'm glad that Sega is making one anyway.

They said it was in the planning stages about a year and a half ago.  For all we know, they canned it  a couple weeks after.  -_-.  There's really nothing you can say  about a Skies of Arcadia sequel.  Aside from that little bit about the planning of it last year, there's never been anything said about it.

I remember reading the interview before E3 last year.  OverWorks (as it was at the time.  It is SegaWow now) said it was in the planning stages, but didn't say if there will be a sequel.

We should know when E3 is over; hopefully.  I'm praying for a Skies sequel!

"Every game is a role playing game."

Not Pong.  Or Breakout.  Or Tetris. Or Mah Jong.

It's funny how people use the literal translation of role playing game to justify calling every game an RPG.  Yet action means movement and you don't see anyone saying that all games with movement (which would be like every single game ever made) are action games.

Anyhoo I'd say the major RPG goldmine Nintendo is sitting on is Camelot.  Those guys are loyal and so far this gen are exclusive yet the only Cube game they've released thus far is a sequel to Mario Golf which in my opinion was totally unneeded and a waste of their talents.  RPGs are huge sellers in Japan and Nintendo NEEDS an exclusive RPG series to compete with the many PS2 exclusive RPGs.  They don't need another Mario spinoff game that will have no effect on system sales.  Camelot should be working on nothing but original content.  That way they may create a new franchise with huge system selling appeal.  They'll NEVER create anything like that if all they're working on is Mario games.  Mario games don't sell systems anymore.  The only team that should be working on Mario games is EAD.

In regards to Skies of Arcadia I would love to see a sequel.  And I think it could sell decently if it was actually advertised.  Sega could re-release the original game as a player's choice title and promote it heavily about a year before Skies 2's release.  Then they should advertise the f*ck out of Skies 2.  If the ads for the first game's re-release are effective it should build up a small Skies fanbase that would drive sales of Skies 2.  The only thing that held the first game back was zero advertising and the fact that a lot of people who wanted it couldn't find it in stores.  Both of those factors are completely under Sega's control.

Skies' original ad still sticks out in my mind as one of the better ads i've ever seen in magazines.

Legends, however, wasn't nearly as great.

Well the problem is image. people buy FF games because it looks gritty and cool and modern
(on top of it being a decent RPg) if nintendo got a good Rpg with market appeal the others would have trouble selling good. it seems theve neglected the rpg market for years and now there playing catch UP. On another note it would be cool if they used a marquee character like LInk to make a RPg spin OFF

I would love to see a new startropics as an action RPG.

Swinging your yo-yo at an enemie and seeing the "level up" notice appear above Mike's head.........ahhhh.

I want to see a new StarTropics as well. I still have not finished the game yet, but I have enjoyed it. Maybe they could use the Super Mario Sunshine Engine. Exploring a gorgeous ocean in full 3D would be great, not to mention all the other interesting stuff in StarTropics.

Umm... hate to burst your bubbles guys, but Faxanadu does not belong to Nintendo, it belongs to Falcom.

IIRC, they even re-released it on one of their Sega Saturn compilation CDs (Japan only of course).

Falcom hasn't made a game for a Nintendo console since the SNES, in fact mostly they make PC games nowadays (with the occasional PS2 title).

I'd love to see them try to do some gamecube titles, but a new Xanadu title might be a tough sell (the World Tree and elf storyline might seem a little too Zelda-y). Better to get an original Ys title.

Faxanadu was a great game, but like the others said
it's not by Nintendo.  (my neighbors mom ran over my friends
copy of Faxanadu by accident, it was crushed all over and cracked
to pieces, but he put it in and it still worked!)

Star Tropics was cool too, a little bit of copying zelda but
still had enough originality.  But, I'm almost certain
Nintendo did not make Star Tropics or Star Tropics 2.

Which is disappointing. Startropics had such interesting stuff in it. Such as pouring water on the instruction manual to get that number, and it had stuff that reminded me of The Goonies. I think it would be awesome for Nintendo to dust off lesser-known franchises like Startropics and Kid Icarus, and give them another chance at the limelight.

If Kid Icarus went-3D "the proper way," I'd imagine it would be nothing less than the likes of Metroid Prime--there's some good "base" material to build off of.

I completely agree.  I wish these series had gained more popularity because they were great games.  Maybe it would be difficult translating them to 3d, but I still have my fingers crossed for some "surprise announcement"

And when Nintendo releases 3D versions of those games they can release the orginals as a pre-order bonus so people who haven't played the originals can.

what was the inappropriate abbrieviation??? i hope it wasnt "jap", because if it was, to denounce it would be overly conservative. all my jap mates call jap stuff "jap". jap food, jap games, jap (as in japanese language) etc.    its the same as calling an australian, "aussie".

if the word wasnt "jap" you have my apologies permy.

Aussie has never been used negatively in our world's history...Using the first three letters of "Japanese" has, and it can be very offensive to some Japanese persons...(one of my friends, for example)
