Nintendo Losing Support?
« on: April 14, 2004, 01:50:23 PM »
Dunno if this is true or not, but now I hear that Factor 5 has stopped support for Nintendo.
Sigh... so much for more Star Wars games like RS4 coming out..

I've been a Nintendo Supporter since the NES came out.  Before that, it was Atari.  However, with so many cool looking games not coming out on Nintendo, and only being XBox and PS2 exclusives, I'm seriously thinking of getting a PS3  in the next generation console wars.    If only Nintendo wasn't so damned good at developing consoles and inhouse games like Mario/Zelda/Megaman/Metroid, etc, I might have switched over already...

I'm curious.  For those who have a PS2, was it worth the $200 plus investment in the long run?

I'd wait for the price to drop, which will likely happen soon.  The PS2 has a great selection of games.  Be sure to check out Vice City, as it is one of the best games to come out during this generation.

Well it depends on what kinds of games you enjoy...You should check out the line-up and try to find someone you know that has a PS2 or read reviews on the games...

Do what I do when buying a new console- research games for it and make a list of all the ones you're interested in enough to buy. The console probably isn't worth it if you can't come up with at least 10 games- you don't necessarily have to buy all 10 of those games, but not even having the option to buy them will insure you wasted your money in the long run. Everyone has different tastes, so you can't get one universal suggestion or opinion on a console- it's all about whether or not it suits your personal gaming needs.

Exactly MC.  I don't buy a console if there are only a few games I'm interested in.  To me, it is not worth the purchase.

Nintendo didn't develop Mega Man.
I got a PS2 at launch, at the insane price of $750. The amount of fun I've had discovering all the awesome obscure third party games has made it worth it. Plus there's all those mainstream games like Kingdom Hearts, GTA and so forth.

People should make up their minds on which console they want when the console is actually out. Deciding between the PS3 and Nintendo's next system now is stupid.

Well said- I have no clue which console I'll be buying next generation. Hell, it might even be an XBox 2 if I'm interested enough in its games. But that's all at least 2 years off.

Analysts predict that Sony will have a hard time holding onto the lead in the next generation.  So I don't think know is the time to all go panic happy and say which system is going to be the top.  I will get a PS3 if it has games I want, the same with XBox2.  I will get N5 because I already know it will have games that I want.

Factor 5 from what I have been reading is not doing anything right now, for any system and isn't showing anything at all at E3.  Also word has it that F5 is ditching all of the current consoles, I don't think they have done anythingf or PS2 or XBox, so from what I have read there won't be anything from them on PS2 or XBox, and also nothing else on GCN.

No, no, no. First he has to have his "major retail buyer" take over sony via hostile takeover, then with the funds he has from dismanteling sony, he will buy nintendo.

I think what's happening is that the developers are now becoming more choosy with the next generation looming.  In other words, they'll develop for one platform and use the extra resources to get a head start on developing for the new consoles.

I don't really feel Nintendo is losing support.  Yeah it seems like it now but they might do something in the beginning of the next console like come up with some big developer or some small developer and mess'em up to be even greater.

PS2 is worth it now.  All you have to do is look at the original price.

Nintendo is gaining support now; oh the irony.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!
