Yes you can, but you'll need a VGA box to do it.

$60 for AV input?  BLEH.

You can find S-video ones for lower price no less--Pelican's is cheap.

There's quite abit of different way to connect a console to a pc monitor, you can get PCI TV-Tuners (why you might want to do this is to make Digital recordings of your ass-kicking abilities) but you'll have to have your pc on at all times.  PCI cards range from $30-150.

I myself use an external scaler but it supports progressive, AV, and S-video inputs.  It's the Nextvision N6 model $175.  It's a bit expensive but it delievers true HDTV experience (minus 1080i).

NM--it does state it has S-video in.

Why don't you buy one of the VGA or DVi cable adapters, 60 dollars, only downside is game must be progressive scan.

System-specific VGA boxes are normally much cheaper than RCA input boxes.

The problem is official or licensed (and reliable) system-specific VGA boxes are hard to come by.  Zephos Bless the Dreamcast and its $15 VGA adapters...

Amen. I got mine for $18 a few years ago.... but $3 is nothing in the face of such awesome power. It's the ONLY way to play Powerstone!

Well there's a few channels that support HDTV nows (one HBO, CNN, Discovery, ect) but there's not really enough of them to warrant the additional price.

I mostly use 480P for movies and gaming.  I have and HDTV 40inch screen and the difference between 480I and 480P is very noticable.  You see alot of scan lines with older projection based non HDTVs.

However on my PC the difference isn't as BIG since the screen size is smaller (21inch) but the image is a bit smoother and the sharpness is nice and crisp.  For the price I paid, I happy with the results.  But it's kinda trial and error (if you read reviews about viewsonic's N6 you notice a few people had blue tints on the screen but my monitor didn't have that effect).
