I hope this is only a prototype and not anything close to what it will really look like.

Don't worry. I guess we all remember that X-shaped XBox prototype and the various other desgns MS had. Is this the two-rounded-corner-dreamcast/PSOne-lookalike picture that was floating around for some time (didn't find the pictures)?

If we compare the size of the drive with the rest, the thing is either f###ing big or uses minidiscs.

How can you say that from the pictures? maybe it is top loading? And who the hell cares how big it is. You complain when people bitch that the cube is purple but then bash the X-box because its big. Kind of hypocritical.

KDR wasn't complaining about anything, Cubed, just making a comment.

In any case, I think it looks like they tried to cram everything in and make it very small, perhaps after the backlash the XBox got for being so big? It's just a prototype, though, and coule even be a fan mockup- I seriously doubt that's what it will actually look like.

From that picture that thing looks about as tall as a Cube and as wide as a PS2. In other words it looks huge. However that might just be an illusion. We really need to see it in reference to something else.

I imagine that if the Xbox 2 does not have a hard drive then it won't be that big since that seemed to be the reason for the original's size in the first place. Unless MS has "determined" that a large size was good for marketing the Xbox in North America in which case they would intentionally make the second one large.

If there is no hard drive though I have to question the choice to include only one memory card slot. How does one copy files to another card? Of course this is just a mock-up (and probably not even a real one) so things could change.

Who gives a crap how big it is. I dont wear the f'in thing on my wrist or attemp to shove it places I shouldnt. It sits in my entertainment unit, with my reciever (twice the size) my HD sattalite box (just as big) and DVD player (slightly thinner). When it comes to the cube everyone goes on and on how looks dont matter. They scream "ITS ALL ABOUT THE GAMES" yet all they do is bitch about the size of the X-box. This is truly a hypocritical bunch.

Cubed: Nobody is complaining! Stop assuming for once and actually read what people post! KDR was simply making a comment, that either the console is big or plays very small discs. No one is saying that it's a BAD thing, you only assumed they did.

Then why the obsession with the size when it doesnt factor into gameplay one bit? Since that is all that matters to Nintendo fans then they shouldnt even notice the size of the console or care. I agree they arent complaining, they are finger pointing, something many of them accuse PS2 and X-box fans of all the time, and call them idiots for. The freak out when an x-boxxer calls the cube a lunch box, so isnt this the same thing?

Because it's interesting! That's the whole reason this thread was created, right? To discuss the supposed design of the XBox 2 prototype? We're not judging, we're just observing. No one here is complaining about the perceived size- we're not even sure if it really is that big, or if that's the actual prototype at all. It seems you're looking for someone to attack.,
