Well, probably, anyway. It's in the negotiation stage.

Variety.com reports that Jerry Bruckheimer Films is negotiating for the film rights to "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" as a Disney feature film. You can check out Bruckheimer's impressive portfolio at jbfilms.com, which includes Pirates of the Caribbean, Con Air, The Rock, and Armageddon.

The script will also be written by Jordan Mechner, the game creator, if the deal goes through.

You really don't like it do you?
I don't see how it could successfully be translated to the screen. Unless they do an action flick of the original prince of persia with the guy escaping from the dungeon in real time! And then they could do a sequal in the form of Prince of Persia 2!

WHY?  At least it sounds like they want to preserve the integrity of the game, but really, can't Hollywood just come up with its own movies?
That's my opinion, not yours.

Actually, one of the things EA is interested in is co-developing franchises with Hollywood and getting both products released at the same time.  It worked pretty well for them with Lord of the Rings and both the games and the movies can share a lot of the same marketing resources.  Of course as gamers, we realize that trying to meet the screen date usually results in a crappier game.

Jerry B? Good God, anything by him is as pleasant as a sledgehammer to your groin. I wish to God a thousand times over that I never saw Bad Boys II. I can NOT wait to see how he royally screws Prince of Persia.... wait.... maybe I can....

Prince of Persia movie doesn't sound so bad.  It has a decent story and it doesn't have the quirkyness that some games inherently have (example: fireball coming from you hands, guys doing 9 ft jumps, etc).  Looks like a big studio is heading it up, so it looks promising.  I just hope they don't dumb it down completely.
