I've been waiting for a rumor report for a while.  I remember back when the lunchbox was still a dolphin and there were a bunch of rumors of Mario and Sonic RPG with new franchise characters involved.  I'm hoping this will look similar to Mario Kart.

I've never heard of a game able to pronounce a name.  That is cool; maybe next gen we will be able to talk through Link and Mario using their voices to navigate through the games.

Well I'd hope another Mario RPG was in production...

A real bummer about Navi's Trackers, though...I hope that one's false, because an extra game won't hurt anyone...

Cutting a Zelda game? Because some losers laughed at it?

That is SO not cool.

At the absolute minimum, they should just leave the Japanese version in the game, as a hidden Easter Egg.

People already say the GameCube disks are too small, and can't include bonus stuff.

BTW, I don't really care if this "Hyrule Adventure" has as big of a world as LttP, but does it have as many things to do in it? Does it have some sort of plot? A brand new, multiplayer, LttP-ish Zelda game would totally make me buy Four Swords Plus.
Poor people should eat wheat!
I'm about to go punk up some 3rd parties so they don't release games on other hardware, ciao!

Does that Mario RPG relate at all to the RPG of Paper Mario, which was put in the GameCube section of one of Nitnendo's international websites (Europe? I forget) Maybe we are getting a sequal to Paper Mario, which I wouldn't mind because I like the style of that game!

From what I've seen and heard, it really is a new 2D Zelda adventure, with the story and items and everything.  You just get the chance to play it with three friends.

and three game boys as well ... Meh...

It would be soo cool, if that new Mario RPG was made by Square and Fund Q.  Heck, port the first one to the GBA, and have it connect some how i could care less. But a new Square Mario RPG would be even better than Kingdom Hearts

"From what I've seen and heard, it really is a new 2D Zelda adventure, with the story and items and everything. You just get the chance to play it with three friends."

You get the chance to play it with friends or the requirement?  I mean FF: CC lets you play alone but it f*cking sucks in that situation.  If this game is dull beyond belief with only one player then it isn't as big of a deal.  I personally am not liking this current trend of mixing multiplayer with GBAs.  Why not make a one player game that uses the GBA?

The removal of Navi's Trackers is kind of a bummer.  I have ZERO interest in that game but if the Japanese are getting it why not us?  Anyone else think it's interesting that Nintendo made a huge deal about all this connectivity crap at E3 and of those four titles shown one of them had to be given away with the purchase of another game (Pac-Man Vs) and another may not be released in North America?  Maybe that will make Nintendo realize that connectivity is not as big of a deal as they think it is.

As for Mario RPG well if it's not made by Square I'm not going to be that interested.  Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi are decent games but they're nowhere near as good as the original Super Mario RPG.  I never had enough incentive to beat either of them and I know the trend will likely continue if Square isn't involved with the next one.  Thus I probably won't bother to buy it.  I find that the other Mario RPGs are way to simplified and thus come off as a little dull.  Super Mario RPG wasn't very hard either but it was a happy medium between hardcore RPG and beginner fluff.  The other two games are leaning too close to beginner fluff.  You can't even level up worth sh!t in those games.

Funny opinions on the Mario RPG series there.  I haven't played Paper Mario, but I have played the other two.  I gave away the first game since I beat it in like a day (literally), but I really love the new GBA one and think it's a lot more entertaining and has really innovative gameplay.

As far as Zelda goes, I thought I had heard that you don't NEED a GBA, but it gives you an advantage if you have one.  And yes you can play by yourself, I believe against bots.

A new Mario RPG would be great, especially if Square Enix jumped on board.  I'd love a sequel to Paper Mario, I thought that game was fairly underrated.  Or better yet, a Mario RPG with pretty graphics (not paper graphics).

1) Was LttP dull in one-player?  Stupid question, huh? -__-
2) There IS a standard one-player GBA adventure in the works right now, that's why...

Same...I really hope they incorporate the gameplay from M&L into the next RPG, because it truely was amazing...

I've said it during Radio Trivia and I'll say it again: Nintendo should continue the pattern of using a new developer with each Mario RPG.  All three share some aspects, but overall all three stand on their own and are excellent in their own right.   Each developer brings its own personality and talents to the table, and I love the individuality in the "series".  Nintendo has a horde of developers to work with--surely more than a few would be interested in a Mario RPG.

That being said, I wouldn't be upset if Alpha Dream or Square made the next Mario RPG, but I'm secretly crossing my fingers for the Skies of Arcadia team ;-)

Of course not.  It was awesome.  But it was a one player only game.  A lot of the time games that are designed primarily with multiplayer in mind are really lame when played with one player.  Thus there's some concern.

I for the most part agree though I would love it if Square worked on the series again.  When Paper Mario came out I accepted that it was a different developer because it was impossible at the time for Square to work on it.  They are however available to work on it now and that's partially why it pissed me off that Alpha Dream was working on M&L.  I thought of Intelligent Systems as an unfortunately required replacement.  Nintendo obviously didn't think the same way.

I definitely do not want to see Alpha Team become the standard developer for Mario RPG games.  M&L is in my opinion the worst of the three plus I really suck at all the timing stuff.  I wanted to play an RPG not a rhythm game.  So I agree with two options.  Either change the developer every time OR go back to Square since they were the original developer.  Like TYP said the Skies team would make a swank Mario RPG provided they didn't go with random battles like in Skies.

you can hardly make that comparison.  lttp was designed to be a single player game.  so of course it wasn't dull to play by yourself.  however, if a game is designed from the ground up to be a multiplayer game--such as ff:cc, or even q3a and the ut series (to a lesser extent)--the single player mode could be more of a chore than anything else.  (not saying it will be, depends on how much effort the designers put into the game.)
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Regarding the removal of Navi's Trackers, do you think it's possible for NOA to come up with a replacement for that part of the game? Perhaps something along the same lines as a scavanger hunting game? I mean, it's one thing if we lose out on a big part of a Zelda title, but it's something else if we get something all our own.

First off, its nice that t3h louie is back in da hizouse!

Anyway, I may have to pick up that Zelda title if its true. I'm probably one of the few mavericks who don't mind playing multi-player games by myself. But if the design is centered on a huge world where having other players is 'optional, but reccomended' as oppossed to 'if you don't have friends, don't bother', then it will be able to sell that much better.

P.S Will Louie get busy at E3?

I would rather not.  I love Sega Wow, but I would rather they work on a Skies sequel (if it will happen) than a Mario RPG...

Quite the contrary.

I feel the timing-based attack and defense added that raw kind of gameplay and fun you see so seldom (read: NEVER) in other, lesser games.  And it also rewards you for being good at it with the whole Advance Command business.  It's a lot better than just smashing "Attack" and waiting.
