Fight Club
« on: February 25, 2004, 12:50:58 PM »
After seeing the preview in EGM, I got to wondering, WHY IN GODS NAME IS IT NOT COMING TO GAMECUBE?!?!?! In my vision Fight Club is one amazing movie, and everyone should be able to play the game... as Bob the man with boobs.
...
But afterwards I realized that because developers don't give a rat's behind about our little buddy! Well, if it's just the same I was wondering if there were any rumours on the subject of it coming to Gamecube.

Oh, and by the way this year's April Fools Joke was lame, Harvest Moon getting a bad score
And yes I do realize that the actual joke was the Middle Earth Racing: Mordor GP... LAME

Don't count on it.  Vivendi obviously doesn't think it will sell on the Cube.

Let's see it's a game based on a movie that's coming out YEARS after the movie was released and it's being published by an American company.  I'd say there's about a 97.8% chance of this game blowing ass.  Therefore I don't care if it's not released for the Cube.  Think of it as one less game you have to return.

Agreed, uglydot.  How could you make a game from that.  Developers are stupid.

Awesome movie, though.  Maybe they can make a Donnie Darko game, too!  Wouldn't that be grand?

Uh, why would anybody want a Fight Club game? Why is the Fight Club game a fighting game?

Is it a one player game where you fight yourself!?

I wonder what the concept will be? Just use a wrestling engine, but take place in a basement and secure the rights to edward norton and brad pitt? I've never heard of this before.

fight club wasnt really about fighting, at all, but I seriously doubt the people making this game know that.  i cant beleive theyre making a game out of this and I hope it doesnt come to gamecube.....or any other system, for that matter

Alls I'm saying is that if the game turned out to be an ok game, with a good understanding of the actual movie (not some idiot's view on it) with at least an ok fighting scheme, it would be worth a rent. I live in a town where most people have GC's (hehe I "persuaded" them to get it) and others either are to dumb to understand or havent seen the masterpiece, so a GC version would let me get my yearly Fight Club addiction!

Oh, I had to add this...

I am Jack's lack of suprise that Fight Club is not on GC...
Oh man is that funny, and relevent, I'll call it relevunny!

but dont you see, if it is a good representation of the movie, there will not actually be that much fighting in it.  even if there was, what would be the point?  you dont fight in fight club to earn respect or move up in the rankings or any silly crap like that.  the fact that is apparently going to be a fighting game at all tells me that it is in fact some idiot's view of the movie.  i honestly cant conceive of any possible way for a game based on this film to be worth setting on fire.

I think Fight Club could possibly work like this:

You play a low level member of "Fight Club" and work you way up the ranks. Sure you would fight other members but most of the game would be spent doing gurellia terrorist missions, such as the ones seen in the movie. Planting bombs in coffee shops, destorying statues, that kind of stuff (probably in the style of something like Metal Gear Solid). You'd gain prestige and become a high-ranking member of the orginization. Eventually you would challenge Tyler Durden for control of Fight Club (or perhaps this game takes place after the movie and while the film is over the various Fight Club groups around the nation still exist and instead you challenge the leader for your area's Fight Club, and eventually you gain control of the whole Fight Club orginization).

Not clickable sorry, just copy and paste.

I dont think the game is going to portray fight club like the majority of you are saying.  Its going to be a fighting game, and honestly the graphics look pretty decent.  The only problem i saw was the fact that it said the two main characters the entire time in the graphics, if you can only play 2 guys there would be a problem.  I dunno i think it looks pretty cool honestly, I wouldnt mind a realistic fighting game here besides somthing like mortal combat.  Just my views.  Also if you have some big problem with the fact they called it fightclub and it has no plot line close to fight club forget the name, whats the difference its only a name

A video game about a movie about a book that was butchered a little is butchered even more, what a great idea!
