Booooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

In what gave me the sh*ts when I read it, the Victorian Government is striking a deal with Sony, and later Microsoft, to provide small, local developers with free PS2 and Xbox development kits to get them started for development on those consoles.

No mention of Nintendo ANYWHERE in this deal.

It's great for Australian game-development for sure, but the fact is, this is just another look at how much people care about Nintendo. Even the Australia Game Developers Association of Australia (GDAA) is in this deal, supporting the Government and Sony. If the Government are supporting Sony and Microsoft, then Nintendo have no chance in Australia.

Your thoughts on this, which is another blow to Nintendo.

Well, Booooooooooooooooo!!!!!! just sums it up nicely.

But what is really going to come from this? The only major local developer I know of is Ratbag, who make dirt racing games for the US. Apart from that, no-one has really been successful. Meh.

*Puts on the sad singlet*

Wasn't Shadow Run and Jurrassic Park Operation Genesis developed by Australian developers? I dunno, but there certainly is talent here. It may just result in lots of crappy games, but it's better than nothing.

Who knows, maybe they approached Nintendo to begin with, but they went "NO NO, POURING ALL MONEY INTO RIP CURL GBA, PISS OFF"

I'll get you for this Bette Midler! *explosion*

Business? I can see us doing well in the field of angst, and probably games.
I wanna get a kit to see if you can make a game that will cause the PS2 or Xbox to melt from the inside. Or explode. Either way, it'll sell truckloads!

No surprise Nintendo is left out.  Booooooooooooooo!

Things are getting worse and worse in Oz.  Call me crazy, but I'm getting a bad feeling that the N5 might never be released in Oz if it gets worse.....

NAL President:  "We tried our best.  We advertised on every billboard and on primetime on TV every night."

Satoru Iwata: "Okay, that's it.  No more Nintendo home consoles for Australians starting next generation!  Next!"

We should all get together to make a PS2 game then, it can be about a magical forum with forumERs (EMERGANCY ROOM MORE LIKE EGG ROBOTS!!!1) going "wikky wa, bust it down G" while typing in strange ways. You'll need to throw Leonado Lemonade cans at them to keep them at bay, they'll keep coming, like zombies. Because you have a BBQ attached to your head, they want it. "SNAGS" they'll scream. "SAAAUUUCE"

"No no" the main person will go (you can choose male/female/pooosssuuum) and you'll go into rage mode, this is where you now have a keyboard and string together old jokes and bad insults with the help of the caps lock key, it's very limited though. Quickly, rush to McDonalds today and so forth. The letters will FLY at the zombie people wanting Aussie slang sausages and BAM, they'll go "V'S HURT". Viewtiful, I'm sure that hasn't been used in a game before. What about the rights to Indiana Jones? Yeah, we can own him for this game.

After the wrestling bonus stage, there's the Tetris mixed with Twister stage. BLUE BLOCK, BLUE, RIGHT. Confusion, twisting, lets do it again right round like a record.

END CREDITS.

Think of it the other way for a second -- Nintendo Australia isn't very co-operative with the Australian public...why should it be any different with developers?  It's more likely that Sony and Microsoft are offering the Victorian Government dev kits for local developers to produce games with.  I know that Sony and Microsoft always have a presence at the AGDC (Australian Games Developers Conference) but I don't think I've ever seen Nintendo mentioned, unless it's from an existing developer who's developed a game for a Nintendo console.

Sad but true.
It's got a duck bill, you moron!
