Commercials? The last Nintendo commercial I ever saw was for Super Mario Land 2. Wait, there was maybe one of those glasscube ads...

Oh, we got some idiot yelling 'let's do that again!'. Thank the heavens Nintendo doesn't bother advertising here anymore.

Yeah nintendo commercials are kind of weak compared to other game commercials, especially that mario sunshine commercial.

Hey, that Sunshine Mario Sunshine commercial is one of my favourite commercials ever.

I have a feeling FF:CC will bomb. It's kiddie, it doesn't have a number at the end of it, and its insane requirements will scare people away.

I actually really like the FFCC (and Metroid: Zero Mission for that matter) commercial.  It starts of seeming nothing to do with a game.  Actually seems like a car commercial to me the first time I saw it.  Then it shows 4 real actual people holding crystals pushing back the fog.  The crystals and the fog are one of the major parts of the game.  *watches from hard drive again to remember stuff*  It talks about battling alone or in multi by connecting the 4 gba's.  Also shows the "Connected" thing-ma-jig at the end at the bottom of the screen.  People will know its an RPG from the Final Fantasy label on it.  Even though it doesn't have the "true" rpg elements like experience, and leveling up.  Its gets just enough to the viewer to wet their appetite and wanting more it seems to me.

Nintendo ads have been much better since the heart monitor ones started.  I have been collecting them since then.  I have dozens of other and older ones too.  Nintendo knows how to advertise, they just got off track to start the GCN.

I've seen the FFCC commercial.  Most of the commercial is a bunch of actors doing stuff vaguely associated with the game, followed by three seconds of footage and no mention of what the game is about or why anyone should buy it.  Yep, it's the same sh!tty commercial Nintendo has been doing since the Cube launched.  How hard is it to make a commercial for a f*cking Final Fantasy game?  Show a bunch of cut scene footage to show off the graphics and music and say "Final Fantasy returns to Nintendo consoles this February!"  It's SO f*cking easy to do a commercial like that and it's cheaper (no actors or filming required) and it will actually get people more excited than the "Mr. Plow" commercials they're doing now.

Nintendo has to realize that this isn't 1988 anymore and you don't have to have funny skits and actors to hide the fact that the game looks like crap.  Cube games look amazing.  Just show the damn footage and people will buy it.  The Crystal Chronicles trailer got me more excited about the game than ever.  Why don't they just show the trailer as the commercial?

I agree with Berto2K, I actually think the commercials look really cool. They have a fantastic look to it, and if you already know the concept of the game (that these adventurers are using the crystal to purify the world) then it makes perfect sense. My only complaint: definitely not enough actual game footage.

But isn't the point to attract people, whether or not they have a solid clue about what the product delivers?  I doubt the "knowledgable gamer" generates more sales than the mass-market.

"I can't believe how so many people fail to see the hilarity in that commercial"

Well it's a lot of people since nearly everyone but the two of you on this forum hated it at the time and for the first time I can think of Nintendo actually changed commercials for a current game.  Plus there's the lower-than-expected sales of the game itself which I'm sure is purely coincedental.

The hilarity in that commercial had to be the most subtle in game commercial history.  It's like the f*cking Doonesbury of game commercials.

I pretty much agree with you 110 percent..... Nintendos advertisment and media section is one of the reasons for its weak sales since launch.

I felt that the FFCC commercials in the theatres where good,  they showed a lot of videogame footage.  I haven't seen the TV commercials, because I just play games on it.

Yes sir, Metriod Prime is the single greatest video game ad of ever time.  The whole" Who are you" thing kinda works but not all the time. And yes I said "ever" time.

I see 50 x-box and PS2 commercials for every gamecube commercial.

Is no one at NIN smart enough to realize that this is a problem?

What channels are you watching?  I see the opposite ratio, lots more of the FFCC and Zero Mission ads than Xbox or PS2.

I see more Nintendo commercials on Adult Swim [Cartoon Network] than PS2 and Xbox commercials--as far as I can tell. Which means they're probably about equal.

There's a different commercial for FFCC on the Namco arcade Channel M tapes that's strictly gameplay footage and a song from the game. Watch for this one on TV.

I actually enjoy the FFCC commercial.  I thought the SC2 commercials suck.  Like most game commercials they have this crappy guy thats supposed to be funny.  In the case of SC2 the weapons merchant.

Channel M is a company that makes in-store video reels. The ones for Namco arcades play music videos with ads in between, usually for video games, Pop Tarts, or public service ads. They had the one F-Zero ad maybe before anyone else. I can't very well smuggle it out of work, but it's really not overwhelmingly interesting, anyway.

Maybe Berto2K can find it?
